Default need some help picking a kit

First off this is for my buddy's car a 1990 1.6 car that has the 1.8 rear end and axles in it. I am currently building the car for him. He is looking to spend 3-4 grand on just the kit and then also buy the MS PNP. He wants a good clean 12 psi. I will be porting the head and adding a set of cams. Thank you for the help.

No body has ever turboed a 1.6. I am sure you searched and the search doesnt work.

we only know how to boost a dirty 12psi.

clean 12psi is tricky.

by clean I mean cool and I was thinking a ball baring gt2560r may work. I'm having a hard time with this small stuff its way more lag sensitive as my 5.8L based motor.

The 2560 is a good size for the 1.6 engine. You'll be happy with it. You can approximately double the stock horsepower without issue and without opening up the engine.

How hard can I push it could I push it to 300 rwh that's the customers goals ? He is willing to replace the pistons and rods if necessary. Is the GT2860RS a better choice?

If this guy is a paying customer and you've having to ask these questions, i would suggest saving face and hassle in the end and pointing your customer towards someone who knows what they're doing. You'll end up ahead in the long run.

like I said I primarily work on motors that are at least 5 L they are much less sensitive to turbo size. I know how to do all the work how to build the engine and I have turboed many engines just not as small as the miata motor. I am a smart enough man to know that I do not know every thing and to ask for help when I'm not absolutely sure. If it was a going on a stock motor I wouldn't be asking for help as I would just use a previously proven set up.

This is a stock motor, though. Or at least judging by what you said in the first post.

If he wants 300whp reliably, he'll need a built bottom end, which comes with a whole 'nother set of decisions to make.

The 2560 won't make 300whp. 2860 is the bare minimum and you might want to look into fancier options.

If you're building a motor anyways, using a 1.6 is full retard status, though.

This x 1000. Especially if the customer wants to be in the neighborhood of 300 HP.

I say this and I have a boosted 1.6.

The only good thing about it is that I can run ALLOFIT without any real ***** given. If the motor pops, it's all the more reason to swap in a 1.8.

"I want the laggiest and shittiest 300hp available to me in this chassis, please. What can you do for me?"

That's what I told him I wanted to swap in a 2.0 but he wants to keep the 1.6. How much horsepower is the stock crank good for? I'm going to Wiseco forged turbo pistons Manley H-beam rods compression should be around 8.5:1
