New exhaust: wonder if it'll fit?

So, I got some new exhaust parts to attach to the Turbo Tony downpipe. The pieces include a 2.5" high-flow catalytic converter and a 22" long (overall 28") 2.5" Magnaflow resonator along with 2.5" flanges and gaskets. I was really worried that it wouldn't fit in between the DP and the diff.

On to installing these pieces. Bolting up the cat to the downpipe was fairly easy. I just bolted the flange to the downpipe and placed the cat up to it and marked alignment ticks. Everything was welded up with some fluxcore wire. The same process was used to put the resonator to the cat.

The problem I had was getting the resonator to fit. Sure, the resonator is 22" long, but the legs on it were 3" long :p After some fidgeting and some angle cuts, the resonator was able to tuck in there with a turndown just before the diff.

Onto the sound! My original setup was a 10" 60mm resonator hanging off of the downpipe. It was a little loud and had a higher-pitched twang to it and when I let off the gas in gear, it popped and burbled like a cammed-v8 engine braking. The new setup is MUCH quieter and also all bass coming out. All in all, I think it was a wonderful upgrade :) I'm just waiting to get some more piping and tack on a new muffler to get the volume down just a little more.

Was it a carsound (magnaflow) catalytic converter?

ceramic/metal core?

So did you just have a resonator on your previous setup?

yes sir, it was a magnaflow catalytic converter. The original setup was an HKS 10" long 60mm resonator just off the downpipe. I think if I had a muffler attached to it, it wouldn't have been too bad, but 60mm is a little smaller than I'd like.
