New GReddy - couple of questions

My GReddy kit and Bipes arrived last week and had a bit of fun fitting it yesterday.

All went well until I started fitting the oil feed adapter into the block. As I tightened it (well, screwed it in...) it sheared clean off in the block. :eek:

Thankfully it came out with a stud extractor and I rebuilt the engine with the stock fittings until I can get another adapter.

However I have a couple of questions before I start on the install for the second time:

1) Does anyone have a torque setting for the oil feed adapter? I don't want to risk shearing another one (even though that last one wasn't tight - I think I must have had some dirt in the threads which caused it to bind)
2) I don't fancy drilling my oil pan at the present time so I'm going to use the standard oil return (I'm aware of the issues with sloping / routing / heat). Can someone tell me about the fitting on the block for this? It looks like it has a rubber bung on it wit ha hose clamp. Do I just take this off and fit the pipe and a new hose clamp or is there some sort of screwed in plug uner that bung which I need to remove?

1. just tight enough where it doesn't leak.

2. that's the correct port. remove the cap and throw your hose on there.

Thanks- with regards to the oil feed, the original plug had a copper washer under it. I had assumed that I should therefore fit a new copper washer and nip the plug up tight against this. There seems to be more thread on the new adapter than the plug however so I'm wondering if this was the problem? Do I need to have the washer and tighten it right up against the block or will it self seal?

You can leave the washer on, but "tight enough" may not reach it. If it does, great, you have two seals working for you.

I just installed Greddy couple of days ago, and had the same problem. I had to find another T fitting that has thread on one side (diameter gets fat progressive). That really sealed up good.

Btw, for your oil feed line, did you point it up or down?

Ah ok - so it will seal fine without being butted up? I.e. just by way of the threads? Should I use anything on the threads to aid it (loctite,hermatite etc)?



The oil feed was a straight fitting (see below for the damage!) - I couldn't angle it either up or down :confused:

Had exactly the samething happen to me. Not uncommon it seems. For about $80-100 you can replace the entire oil feed setup. Search the forum, myself and a number of others have listed what parts to buy.
