New Kit, Uses Subaru Turbo
I stumbled on this kit made by "Kraken" on eBay (seller name "krakn08") and haven't seen it mentioned here so I thought I'd share. Quality is unknown obviously but the price is pretty damn competitive ($460 for the manifold, downpipe elbow, and inconel studs. $160 more for a 1.6 downpipe) and the manifold and downpipe elbow are cast so it should be at least AS reliable as the tacotaco shit.

I have two WRX turbos sitting in my garage so I figured why not? From my half-assed research it looks like the WRX td04-13t is slightly smaller than the gt2554r so hopefully it will be a good match for the 1.6. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...ce77a46a1f.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1bef4ca7cc.jpg |
interesting
looks like a knockoff of the original avo kit but with a different flange |
I wonder who's going to be first! Slash, any of you know if anyone on mx5nutz has used this setup across the pond? Looks like it ships from the UK.

Nope, sorry bro, don't know of anyone. |
It won't be long before it's crackin.
Sorry. I have a spare one of those turbos, too. Probably almost boosts at idle. |
1.6, 13T owner here. 16psi by mid 3000s rpm. its a great match.
And as I recall from my research, the compressor moves a little more air than a 2554 but the turbine is smaller and chokes quicker. I have it all written down somewhere. edit- just dug up a pic. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1459802788 |
