New manifold homebrew

I had a fine hairline crack in my manifold asked about came up with a few couple of options (replacment or etd) but none here in the UK so had a go myself.
Came up with an jig idea, then chopped up and shapped some pipe (not as easy as i thought to get the fit!) Butchered a standard mani I had for the flange and got the local engineering company to make me a turbo flange. Dented the pipe close to the 'close' studs for clearence and a mate welded it up. Fitted it all today, took it out for a drive then a bit more of a drive! seems good! Pleased with it-here's a pic Attachment 216003 |
looks great

did you grind the welds down? Im a little worried about the weld on runner 1 and 2.
|
So you used the old flanges? what is the rest of it made of?

Nice looking manifold! I'd like to see a picture of underneath the turbo flange.

Loki dont know what you mean??
The engine flange is off a standard mani na tubular type, the pipe work-well here is a clue you have all had them on your kit, this is 2 chopped up.... ...Standard gredd DP chopped! Thought it is worth a try, I'm all for having a go at making my own bits:) |
looks good from the pic

that's awesome - now you can drive the car while you're working on the equal length tubular manifold ;)
