OEM t25?
 

what cars came OEM with a t25? id like to get a t25 over a t3 but the t3seem far easier to come by in the junk yard. I want the t25 because i assume as it is smaller it will spool faster. am i misguided in this assumtion? what is the relative difference in t25 and t3 spooling (ie. where will the t3 begin to spool as compared to the t25?)

Saab uses a diff exhaust flange (to downpipe)

Search the SR20 forums. The first thing those guys do is ditch their OEM T25, and you can get them cheap. They're also all over ebay.

about the saab turbos: the different exhaust flange your talking about, how is it different? Ive seen turbos on saabs with no seperate waste gate port on the exhuast flange, is this what your talking about?

does the lack of seperate wastegate port make a difference?
what difference would it make if I ran a wastegate tube seperate from the main exhaust and reconnected it about 18 inches down stream?

also, ive heard that rebuiling a turbo on your own is generally a bad idea?

Depends who told you. They might be right. :)

Anyway, in general it's a fine idea, there are a couple write-ups available, and we're here to help.

If you send it off, your looking at a chunk of change. I say wait for a known working turbo, or buy cheap with a rebuild in mind.

rebuilding is a bad idea if you dont know what you are doing.

The shaft is ballanced with the compressor wheel and you must take it apart to repair it.
So mark the compressor wheel and turbune wheel in relation to each other.

If a turbo is really bad (like the ebay link) dont start on it....

On my turbo (GT2560r) the nut could be removed with a 8mm wrench (please dont use the grip pliers)

Great guy to work with (ok,its in england) repair cost were very good (150dollars) including 1 new bearring...

You can also find t25's in a 300zx but there worthless.
