oil pressure dropping under boost - greddy
just finished putting a greddy kit on my 90 - the car now feels the way it should have from the factory
- but - under boost my oil pressure is dropping to half and then comes back to full when i back off or drive around without WOT - seems a bit odd - doesn't seem to be effecting anything else and the drop seems to be consistent and comes back right away - i replaced the pcv valve as a precaution when i did the swap - anyone got any ideas |
Check the oil level.
Change the oil and filter Fill to the full mark and then add an extra 1/4 quart or so. (when the engine's running it fills the drain line and fill line for the turbo, so this compensates for that) Post pictures of your setup. |
<sigh>
DETONATION! Search miata.net and here. '90 to '93 oil pressure sensors are carbon granule sensors that are sensitive to detonation pressure waves. If the oil pressure drops under full throttle, you have detonation. One of the best features of the early Miatas.... This does not apply to the later models' 5 psi on/off pressure switch. B |
