Pics of a 'stock' greddy kit installed

I know the stock word doesnt really fit here, but I was wondering if anyone has pics of their install - using only the parts included with the Greddy kit.

Im planning a 2 stage install -
Stage 1 - Greddy kit, o2 clamp, bipes, injectors, exhaust

Stage 2 - IC, fuel pump, MBC, BOV

If any of you guys see an issue, or a suggestion to make my job a little easier - Id appreciate it.

The car is a '90, fresh big-nose engine, otherwise all stock. Im hoping to eventually see 175 at the tires.

Pretty close to stock greddy. This one has a BOV and a bowser shield, otherwise stock.

Ben - I have 2 questions
1.Where can I get a bowser heat shield - I have new paint on the car & would hate to mess it up - I have seen many people mention the bowser shield - but never found one
2.Whats the thing on the passenger side below the Vortech FPR??
Looks like a battery or something?

Thanks for the pic - just what I wanted to see.

Ben 04-26-2007 07:56 PM

1. Flyin Miata
2. ABS

Get the shield. The paint on my hood turned chaulky before getting the shield. Someone I know's hood showed signs of warping.

you should turbo the mustang instead. otherwise your miata will be faster than the stang, and wouldn't that be funny?

Ben 04-26-2007 08:02 PM

my buddy's twin turbo fox body 351 is a friggin beast

aussie_g 04-26-2007 08:03 PM

Aint no chance of the miata touching the stang anytime soon..

396RWHP & 361ft/lb

Al Hounos 04-26-2007 08:05 PM

maybe not then, but i've clipped a 350whp GT at my 220-230whp. it can be surprising.

I want a mustang.
what's done to it?

aussie_g 04-26-2007 09:27 PM

Making a 03 mustang fast is easy - Kenne Belle - But its expensive...

On the drag strip there isnt much that can touch it thats still a daily driver like mine.
On the street - I had a guy in a beat up 89 Accord that I couldnt pull away from...

Just dont get next to me and run me from a stop - 220hp in a miata from a 50mph start - yeah - you would have something

I haven't been able to be on the forum for a week and look what happens!?

Although massive burnouts are nice.

that's really old...lot more done to it now.

Just curious, how much horsepower does it take until the steering isn't sloppy?

That was one option I considered, I drove a twin turbo car & a S/C car, I was much happier using the supercharger - I can also make those HP numbers with mine - but my rods are at their limit.

My next step is a $5000 forged rebuild, but thats after im done playing with the miata :)

if we're tooting the v8 horn.....my avatar (make that sn) should tell you something......

chevy 350, .030 over, stroked.
forged pistons, rods,
10.1 cr 0 deck, borematched
aluminum heads, water pump, high rise intake
490 lift cam with 1.6 roller rockers
750double pumper

400hp 495ft/lbs is the goal :)

how good does a rx7 have to handle till it makes torque and stops blowing up every 50000miles?:p

But really my dream ride: FD w/LS1

but i'll settle for a turbo miata and an LS1 camaro.

one suggestion, change your "stages" to something more like this:

S1 - Greddy kit, fuel pump, bipes, bov (low boost)

S2 - IC, MBC, 02 clamp, injectors, exhaust (higher boost)

I think you'll come away with a "safe" stage 1 and a "make power" stage 2.

You haven't mentioned your plans for management. E manage? MS? AFPR?

aussie_g 04-27-2007 08:08 AM

I was kinda hoping not to use a piggyback ecu - or any ecu actually

I was planning on using a begi AFPR - I did leave that out didnt I ???

Al Hounos 04-27-2007 11:10 AM

you'll need something to retard timing.

there is a right way and an ok way to do this. Megasquirt is the former.

Braineack 04-27-2007 11:12 AM

he mentioned bipes and an o2 clamp...which works.
