Pictures Finally!

Admittedly I don't know much about cars, ask Corky and Stephanie but I know less about computers so after 6 months of Flogging my BEGi Series 4 I finally figured out how to link pictures. I've already got Forged internals waiting in the garage so they will be going in soon! Enjoy my car!

Looks nice man. Very clean.

That's actually a pretty nice looking setup. I see you're aiming for 345 HP with the boost increase and forged internals. I don't know the exact numbers, but from what I recall the transmission becomes a weak point around 300HP. So keep that in mind.

I found out about the tranny the Hard Way! After an Autocross one day I drag raced (with my trailer still on) a guy in a C5 vette and when I shifted into second BAM! Bye Bye trans. :) I put in a 6 speed. I've also been through 4 rear tires since the install, two Fuzion 215/40 17" ZRi's and two Kumho 225/50 15" V710's. You won't hear me complain about excessive tire wear because I drive it like I stole it! Always! Thanks for the comments.

Clean!!!

mikef85 10-21-2008 01:03 PM

Haha, I think the trailer is quite interesting.

The car looks awesome dude, but I definately would have to say that it drives even better then it looks. Which is really saying something.

Harbor Freight trailor FTW! I love my little tag along.......;)

elesjuan 10-21-2008 01:38 PM

Damn, Man. That looks good! Nice numbers on 13psi too!! :D

hustler 10-21-2008 09:12 PM

In for 6-speed trans.

johnwag 10-21-2008 09:23 PM

That's a lot of power. Shiny manifold and shiny car.

What are you using for engine management? I'm still torn between the FM II Hydra and the BEGi Stage 4. I am picking up my my mom's '99 with 25k miles on it this winter. :)

I plan on doing track days, so I like the idea of having the Hydra ecu for the ability to control everything. I come from a DSM background, so using an AEM is the norm for me...

mattkock 10-21-2008 11:15 PM

I've heard lots of good stuff about the AEM and Hydra but I've said it before, I AM WEE-TODD-DID when it comes to tuning so I'm probably going with a Tec III so mikef85 can tune it with/for me.:) Right Mike? I have the XEDE right now but Corky says that to go above 300rwhp I should go Stand-alone so I am.

Well I finally went and bent a Rod so it looks like the motor build will begin ASAP! Brandon at FM says that they have a 2.0 Stroker just sitting around so if it's available I may just be doing a motor swap and not a build.:)

Does this mean you won't be there this Saturday?

mattkock 11-09-2008 07:21 PM

I'll be there! It's still running great, it just makes a cool ticking noise! :) Corky told me not to use my Rev-limiter as a shift point anymore until I build the motor. After the Dyno day I'm having everyone come back to my house for burgers and dogs and Miata stuff and then later that night, UFC!. I think the weather is supposed to be Great this weekend so everyone is welcome, Miata or not.

Brian-bbc 11-21-2008 07:04 PM

very nice

Cody Strife 01-05-2009 04:54 PM

So is the 6-speed transmission much more solid than the 5-speeds? Given a strong clutch, how much horsepower can it hold compared to the 5-speed?

mikef85 01-05-2009 05:07 PM

Yes, mine was reliable up to 400whp....but don't go past that.

I could bang the gears as much as I wanted at 400whp, but when I started tuning high boost it started to act up.
