Planning a Greddy kit

Hey guys

I've been lurking around here for a while trying to get some info, and due to the price difference between a Greddy turbo and a JRSC, I think I'm going turbo.

My question is!

What do I need to do before installing the turbo kit? I figure I need a compression test before even ordering the kit, need to change all the fluids, maybe clutch, etc but are there any major things I'm missing? I want to do this right.

Car is a 5-speed 92 C-package with 160k miles. I know that's a lot but the engine runs very well with no problems.

Thanks for any info!

Do a compression check and leak down test. Change the timing belt and water pump if not done recently. Flush the cooling system, just some routine maintenance that does not get done due to neglect. If you plan to get more horsepower out of the kit (which you will), then change out the clutch. Change out the fuel filter.

During your thought processes:
Look into picking up a BIPES and maybe a boost gauge and A/F meter. Blow off valve would be nice also -- Later on an intercooler

You might want to upgrade your brakes a bit as well. You'll have no problem adding horsepower. Adding pavement between you and the telephone pole at the end of the block is a bit tougher to do.

Oh, and I turbo'd my '91 at 180K. 287k now. Can't say the last turbo'd 100K wasn't without incident and tons of learning experience, but it's been worth it and the car is still going strong (1 engine, and 1 transmission later that is).

Good choice on the Greddy over the JRSC, you won't regret it.

That's one of the reasons I'm going turbo over SC. I miss the HKS BOV on my turbo Supra.. no sound like it :)

That's not to say that's the only reason I'm choosing a turbo though :bigtu:

Definitely looking into brake upgrades, possibly just up to the 94-97's for now. And that's encouraging that you turboed at 180k.. I shouldn't have much problem then if all goes well. Thanks for the help, guys :D
