As I've said to others in your situation, buy stock, add suspension/wheels/torsen, add MS, add injectors, then turbo on wastegate, then EBC or MBC. That way you learn everything you need to know along the way and don't fall into what most of us here have done. I'm sure anyone here who's bought a turboed car is regretting it (other than factory MSM). This is also the easiest and cheapest way to do things. Also, try to stay away from the 1.6 short nose '90-91.5 motors. If you can't, at least check to make sure the pulley doesn't wobble. It's an oil pump disaster waiting to happen.

Oops, I read the beginning, got bored and read the last couple posts. Didn't see that. FAIL

Also, buying a previously turboed car is usually the cheapest way to go by quite a bit as opposed to doing a build from stock.

Personally if I find a turboed car thats been done right (as far as I can tell from comp test and all) then I will try to snap it up. Even if there are some fuggups, engines are cheap and you can always sell off the crappy components for super cheap to offset buying decent hardware.

ON the other hand, the OP now has a rock solid car that he does not have to worry about, which is a big deal if you need it to start in the morning etc.

Congrats OP!
