Put us in Guinness

I helped install Rappadan's Greddy kit last night along with That7Guy. Total install took 2hrs. We starts at 9 and finished at 11. That included installing a Tony's DP and tapping the pan, which is a tad extra work.

Where's our merit badges?!

miatamania 10-18-2006 09:05 AM

nice...

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 10:32 AM

I was thinking the title should read "Put Guinness in us."

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 11:10 AM

Just a mention to the guy in the red car.. we are doing a happy hour in DC thursday. :)

that7guy 10-18-2006 02:50 PM

It was a hell of an install. I guess Murphy was busy that day... I wonder if the oil feed ever went on without leaking? And Newbs i sence a little color prejudice going on. Are the blues not cool enough now?

Scott how did my car sound? Hear the bOV at all?

LunaticDriver 10-18-2006 02:53 PM

damn i wish there were some people in the Oregon area that would help me on installs and fixing car problems... stupid east coasters =P

Ben 10-18-2006 02:56 PM

Where are the FI people in Atlanta? It's damn hard to watch boost, fuel pressure, and o2 gauges without hitting shit.

Dunno, it didn't come with the fitting, so maybe there was a problrem there from the start?

Throaty! A tad bit, but you were so far past me when you shifted it was hard for me to hear. (I was my Altima, it's slow :td: )

When I installed my GReddy kit back in the day it took me about 10 hours. I was also 18 years old and didnt have a clue what I was doing...lol. But my kit came with a **** Starion Kit, AFPR, and Piergurgh so I had a little bit of extra work. Now I can uninstall and install my turbo/mani/dp in less than an hour;)

Atlanta93LE 10-18-2006 06:06 PM

Ben? You're here in ATL too? So am I (just moved in August) and, my name is Ben too! How weird...

rappadan 10-18-2006 06:41 PM

Chea. so i had to put some teflon tape on the oil feed fitting out of the block. Tightend the crap outa it. Started itup. No oil leak. Test drive, Omg its sounds awesome!!!!! A tid bit loud with the wideband bung completly open. Today i had a bov that i installed vta..... SOunds great, car dosent studder,or stall out.

i did! I just didnt use it!

that7guy 10-19-2006 04:12 AM

well thats a bummer. I say we rip it out and put it back in with some pix. That will take only about....say.....23.6543 minutes

Joey94R 10-20-2006 02:16 PM

That is a really fast install. Instead of dyno results everyone should post their install time.

Braineack 10-20-2006 02:20 PM

I'm going to have to argue that dyno results are much more satisfying than install times.

Mach929 10-21-2006 11:29 AM

yeah my install took about a week of working about 1 hour a day after work while there was still sunlight. But until i put a clutch in my car i won't be posting any great dyno figures

y8s 10-23-2006 03:15 PM

ok next turbo install i'll come help.

hey sevan, what upgrades did you do and are you going to add a clutch? I've got mad speedy clutch replacement skillz if you want to break more records and knuckles.

matt

Braineack 10-23-2006 03:21 PM

good to know, I want to upgrade mine one of these days. A clutch rated at 200tq isn't going to cut it for much longer.

that7guy 10-23-2006 03:32 PM

Yea i need a clutch really soon. Mine slipps after one pull its horrable. Im thinking of a lighter flywheel at the same time.

y8s 10-23-2006 03:44 PM

no sweat. it could be done in a FULL day. if you reuse the flywheel, you'll have to account for resurfacing time though.

that7guy 10-23-2006 04:45 PM

Im thinking about a Fidanza lightweight. Could this be done in any garage or do we need a lift?

Mach929 10-23-2006 05:06 PM

i've been considering a lightweight flywheel, can't really make up my mind, fidanza is the cheapest but i've read about some issues with them so i kept on looking and just got myself more confused. now i'm not sure if i'm gonna do one.

y8s 10-23-2006 06:02 PM

four tall jackstands is all you need. and several different sized blocks of wood. and the OEM jack. and a floor jack. and wobble extensions! and and and!!

but seriously, i'm doing mine in my garage in spurts--evenings, weekends, whatever free time I find.

magnamx-5 10-23-2006 06:09 PM

yeah mine spent more than a month in the air before i deemed it ready for dd use. and leak free

I did my clutch install on a lift and with a trans jack. Took about 3.5 hours. Inculuding ofcourse a fidanza flywheel and exedy stg 1. And replacing the seal in the belhousing of the transmission.

The flywheel is a bit noisy at certain rpms, but for all of us that are turbo thats just another noise. Tha flywheel in itself was the best NA mod i had done up to that point. (Intake and full exhaust)
