quick afm question.

running 305cc injectors + 1.6L afm + vortech 12:1 disc fmu.

can the 1.6L afm idle the 305cc injectors properly ? with the vortech ?

i had the 305cc with the 1.6L afm, but it was adjusted 5-6 clicks on the clockspring so it wouldn't run too rich at idle... my begi liked to increase fuel pressure at idle.

those injectors are already large for what your stock ECU expects and with the 12:1 FMU you are probably flooding it quickly under even light boost.

The AFM in itself is not the issue, it's best to run a proper controller for your fuel if you are serious about a reliable boosted setup.

well this might help shed some light too. im running an emanage.

and today when i was just curising down the freeway, my water temp was rising to 90-96 degrees celsius.... no boost or anything...could the high water temps be related to the adjustment of the afm ? causing lean conditions at idle ?

What kind of boost are you running?

i have a turboxs controller. running 7psi on 1st and 14psi on the second stage.

I was able to idle my 305cc injectors, but I had to play with injector correction to get idle nice. But to really tune it you need a wideband, anything else is going to be a WAG.

yea i feel ya. my friend was running almost the exact same setup as i was prior to his megasquirt revision. ill throw his stock afm on and see how it does.... the other night after a hard drive my turbo was glowing red... lol.. probably not a good thing. maybe ill have to get a wb so i can throw down some SWAG's. (scientific wild ass guess)

btw, how much boost r you running ? /w emanage ? mind shooting down this maps to me = P

The small NA AFM will probably max out at aroun 220-240 crank hp. Your high water temps could be many things, I'd get an EGT gauge to keep an eye on piston melting temps.

A wideband is of course needed for tuning, especially a boosted car.

i personally wouldn't have touched the spring tension on the OEM AFM as it's already set to the perfect tension.

what you needed to do what open the port for the idle mixture screw....you can see the tiny cylinder sticking up with a cap....drill out the cap and expose the screw adjuster. then back it out about a full turn.

I was able to see a perfect 14.7:1 AFR at idle with 305cc injectors.

at about 230BHP i made a few more ponies with the OEM AFM compared to the RX7 AFM
