question on the last leg of BEGI S install
 
i am almost done and pretty much the only thing remaining is hooking up the oil inlet tube to the connector on the turbo. Now The oil inlet tube that came with the kit is blue and is about the same size as the coolant lines that came with the kit it sys 1/4 inch 300 psi on the tube. Now i have been trying and trying but i cant get that small tube to hook up on the oil inlet port on the turbo :( is there a trick to it or am i using the wrong cable?

Sam here are pictures of the oil feed line it is not steel brainded though. Is this the right line?

That looks wrong to me, I'd expect that hose to go onto a barbed fitting, not a threaded one.

well i dont have any 1/4" ones that came with the kit and if i do put a 1/4" inch one then it will be too big/ loose from the engine block side. I am thinking i will jsut get like a converter to convert the threaded side into barbed ? will that cause any leak issues?

That's wrong. That fitting threads in to the turbo, then there's the 90* fitting (the blue & red one HERE). That blue / red fitting has a barbed end on the 'red' side, which is where the hose needs to go to.

hmm well that sounds good but that is not written anywhere in the directions and i did not get the 90 fitting with my kit :(

You understand what I'm saying though, right? That pic in the link clearly shows a 90 degree fitting attached to the male/male fitting that's attached to the turbo. I can guaran-damn-tee you that the other side of that fitting is barbed, which is what the blue silicon hose needs to attach to.

The blue silicone hose is for water. The blue fittings on the turbo have barbed ends to accept it.

The oil feed line is steel braided.

oh well the pic u are seeing with the red and blue connector is the coolant lines. there are four connections on the turbo two for coolant and 2 for oil. The coolant lines have the 90 fittings the oil ones are straight the bottom (oil out) fittin is barbed the oil in is the one that is threaded and all the pics in the manual show pics of the steel braided lines and not the rubber lines like i have.

OK, my first post that I deleted was right.

The blue line you're holding looks like a water line. It's not thick enough to be an OIL DRAIN line and it certainly isn't an oil feed line. The brass fitting definitely looks like the 7/16-24 to -4an oil feed turbo fitting.

The feed line is a steel-braided line with fittings on both ends.

Pics:
#1: The blue M10x1.5 to -4an fitting and a 90* -4an to -4an swivel... then the hose.
#2: 7/16"-24 inverted flare to -4an fitting at the turbo and the line straight onto that.
#3: The same 90* swivel as in pic 1.
#4: A 90* swivel integrated onto the hose.

Where is your braided oil feed line?

well they are not open on weekeneds :( and sam i know what you are saying about the steel lines but i did not get the upgrade of the steel lines so i did not get any steel lines. My oil return line is also the same rubber line it is just a little bigger in size. So are you suggesting that all BEGI S kits are suppose to come wsith steel lines as a base package?

No the BEGI-S kits only come with rubber lines in the base kits. The larger rubber line is the oil drain. Those rubber lines should have barbed fittings that press into them though. The fitting you've shown is a -AN adapter and it cannot be attached directly to a hose in the manner you have shown.

This picture below shows how they use the 90* fittings coming out of the turbo with the adapter that you have in your hand first threaded into the turbo. The rubber line attaches to the 90* fitting that you can see in this picture. In order to do that it might have a hosebarb fitting or the 90* fitting might have a hosebarb on it itself.

yeah i think you guys are right i am missing a fitting here as well i will check my local auto parts and home improvement stores tomorrow to see if i can find something tomorrow if not then i will call begi on monday. thanks alot guys

W/e you do, call BEGI and make sure they send you the parts you paid for. Do a complete inventory now, make sure you have all your oil/coolant fittings and all the right size hose clamps.

I can see that for the water lines... but the oil drain should be silicone and the feed should definitely be braided. I thought that was pretty much industry standard... if your feed line cracks/breaks/loosen's, then you pour pressurized hot oil directly onto the hot manifold and burn your car to the ground.

Any hydraulic/rubber store will have the fittings you need and will make you a 30" oil feed line with all 4 fittings for about $30.

1x30" steel braided teflon hose in -4an.
2x 90* -4an swivel hose ends.
1x M10x1.5 to -4an block fitting
1x 7/16-24 inverted flare to -4an turbo fitting.


Ocala would seem to be a hot-bed for hydraulic and rubber stores... go make friends:
