REVENT Intercooler kit

I ordered a REVENT intercooler kit, a downpipe and turbo lines and fittings, That happened 1 year ago and never arrived, I was wondering if anyone is aware of this shop and what experience did you have with them.

thebeerbaron 02-11-2021 04:06 PM

You waited a year for parts to arrive and are just now asking if anyone has experience with the shop?

I've only heard of them once. They took an order from some noob and never delivered the kit.

Savvas 02-12-2021 04:07 AM

Anyone?

Jesse99James 02-12-2021 07:21 AM

@thebeerbaron. :bowrofl:

Who? What? I too have never heard of them and don't feel like searching for them. I doubt they have anything to offer over already documented intercooler options other than, and I'm guessing, an extremely low price. If you waited past your refund return guarantee date you were foolish. If the company hasn't provided your parts and you have little communication and assurance that you will get them you dispute the charge and move on.

REVENT was known here as @sturovo I have not seen him here for a while. Lives in Eastern Europe, and mostly serves that market.

They were a thing up until 3 years ago. My friend actually met him in Prague to pick up a kit. Nice quality for the price.

I'm in the UK. A number of UK folks have ordered their kits historically, no major issues, kits seemed to be of good quality. Communication during the ordering process was good, fast and clear with customisations possible, but the buying experience that followed paying the deposit was, well... shitty. It's clear that Revent is a side hustle and in no way the main focus of the chap running it.

Before I say anything, let me pay the taxes.

1. Brexit. Brexit changed shipping regulations between the EU and UK during 2020.
2. Pandemic. Slovakia experienced some fairly authie lockdown rules, including a ban on travel between local regions for certain periods. I think but can't be sure that the guy had Covid during the process, but comms were often unclear and fractious so hard to be sure.

I ordered my kit in May '20. Perhaps naively I thought this would be a nice project to do during lockdown.

My kit comprised:-
  • Intake, filter, bosch diverter valve and pipework to recirculate
  • Intercooler and pipework
  • Manifold
  • Downpipe
  • 2.75" Exhaust with the big magnaflow muffler, a 200cell cat and a decat pipe.

Total cost €1720/£1500/$2000 shipped.

There's alot I could write here but the highlights are
  • Deposit to start building the kit was paid in May '20 - €520/£460/$630
  • I was told it would take 4 weeks for them to start on my kit, and approx 3 weeks to finish it
  • Communication was sporadic throughout. Often waiting weeks for an update, that would come usually around midnight.
  • Kit was complete August '20 and the balance paid - €1200/£1100/$1500
  • First half of the kit arrived December '20, I'm told after numerous attempts where the kit got "stuck" either in Germany or Austria
  • Again it would take 1-3 weeks to get an update when I mailed asking for the status.
  • No tracking was given that worked, they use Slovakia Post to ship, who would then hand over to Royal Mail(UK national carrier). Tracking didn't show on SK website or Royal Mail
  • I was repeatedly told the second half had been shipped, but again no tracking supplied that worked
  • Revent would often admonish me for being impatient, making out responding with updates was something that was a challenge for them and I shouldn't expect fast comms
  • I investigated using alternative shippers(UPS, DHL, FedEx). Revent were happy with this and my idea was to arrange collection rather than have them take the box to the shipping company. Ultimately pricing was prohibitive and I told them to use their normal service again.
  • May '21 I'm told the kit has been shipped again using Slovakia Postal Service, again no tracking supplied.
  • At this point I reach out to a lawyer in Slovakia, who prepares a formal letter requesting completion of the transaction, a prelude to a court claim. I keep this in my back pocket in case I get no resolution.
  • July '21 I issue an ultimatum, telling Revent that whilst I will no longer be pursuing the transaction personally, they will hear from me in future indirectly unless I get a meaningful update and the goods arrive.
  • 3 weeks later I get a mail back confirming the remainder of the kit had not been shipped in May '21, but was now on the way. Again I'm admonished for being impatient and not taking into account their personal issues. Hard to take personal issues into account that are not being communicated, and hard to understand what might have been going on to prevent taking a box to a post office given Covid restrictions had been largely lifted by that point
  • August '21 I get the remainder of the kit.

So yes, overall a shitty experience, perhaps exaserbated by Brexit/Covid, but incredibly hard to say what actually happened here given the unclear and sporadic comms from Revent. In the between ordering the kit and receiving it, I received numerous packages large and small from the USA, Germany and Japan. Longest delay was USPS 40 days for some bits from Moss Miata in the US, stuff was stuck in customs for weeks March/April 2020. Stuff from Japan would take 3 days to arrive with Fedex.

So overall, I just can't help but think that many of the times I was told my kit had been shipped, it hadn't and that the kit getting stuck was BS.

I'm glad I eventually got the kit, I hope it has no issue when I come to fit it and I would not advise anyone buy from this company.

I have had similar issues with my order and I am not in UK, so no Brexit.
In my case I have been told mainly "covid" but also "personal stuggles" as the causes of delay in delivery.
Otherwise similar story with fast comms in the beginning and an easy ordering process, but then it was getting more scarse between comms as time passed.
And now I have not heard from them in over a month...

But your post at least gives me some hope that I will get what I have ordered eventually!

I have also ordered a bunch of stuff from Skidnation (also in Slovakia) during these past months, which all arrived no problem and was shipped with Slovakia post.
So I find it very hard to believe that Covid is solely to blame for this...

Ditto, something isn't right and it's unclear what it is. PM me if you want the details of the Advocate I used in Slovakia to draft the legal letter. You may need to give Revent a push to complete the transaction.
