Hello friends

Once again I need your advice for a planned Greddy Turbo purchase for my 1990 1.6 -

The guy selling the kit has the following, among other things, up for grabs;

1. Greddy Turbo kit -
2. Custom intercooler
3. 2.5" Downpipe
4. Uprated Clutch & Lightened flywheel
5. Uprated front Brakes (discs/pads) & braided hoses

My question is in the area of the the Intercooler versus the downpipe. I currently have a decat pipe and a Borla single exit exhaust, believed to be 2.25" thick.

Of the 2 what would give the best bang for my bucks. I'll be aiming for a set up below 200bhp (for insurance purposes) so driveability is more important than outright power.

so the question is should you buy the intercooler or the downpipe?? I vote downpipe for now and get the intercooler later. It will allow the system to breathe better.

I did downpipe before intercooler, no particular reason, just the way I did it.

I say DP first because IMHO, it's much easier to add the IC than have remove the old DP and install a new one. Plus, without the IC, you can get the car setup/tuned at ~6psi and then add an IC and up the power later.

getting that greddy to spool faster with a 2.5" would be my first goal

Thanks for the advice, so its the downpipe I've opted for. Just out of interest as I am currently running a standard clutch and flywheel would it be advisable to buy his 1.8 flywheel & Exeddy clutch or should I go for the intercooler instead as both would cost roughly the same.

I finally decided to buy the whole lot -

Greddy Turbo
Intercooler
2.5" Downpipe
Greddy Emanage
1.8 Lightened flywheel & Exedy organic racing clutch
EBC Grooved/Drilled discs, Redstuff pads and Goodridge braided hoses
1.8 Injectors and uprated fuel pump

All this for £1300 or $2600 - I think it's a good deal, but I hope my diff can cope. I'll keep you all posted on the install

whats the torque load of the exedy clutch? If you're going to replace, I'd make darn sure it's something that wont slip under load.
