Shanghai -S Experience (spoiler alert - good and bad)

I purchased the shanghai -s, a diypnp, and an ebay intercooler and piping for my 00'. Just wanted to share my experiences with those who may end up searching in the future! These forums have been the most helpful place on the whole internet, so I would like to contribute when I can.

First off, Begi was a couple weeks late (shocking right?) but I kinda expected this and they did work with me very well, so I can't bash them too much here.

Although it can be done cheaper by yourself, the kit was well put together, and being my first FI build I wanted to have everything so I know what to do in the future. The kit was great, fit together nicely, and they didn't forget anything.

Fast forward a few days later, everything is working and BOOOST IS GREAT at this point, but a noise starts coming out of the turbo. After talking to BEGI, the china charger had a bearing issue. So they got a new one for me and I got that a few weeks later and sent the old one back. Boosting again, life is good, except then I started burning a lot of oil....it's well past warranty now, so I got a rebuild kit and went to town. Sure enough the exhaust seal was shot. Everything is good again, but REALLY? I know they have had "very few failures," but I am not so sure about this. How can I have 2 turbo's go within 6 months, am I just that unlucky? Did I install something wrong?

In summary:
1) GET THE GARRETT, the china charger has some real issues.
2) The kit is very complete, well put together, but if you are a DIYer and know what your doing, build your own.
3) Their service help is truly great, they make the least expensive turbo kits on the market, BUT they are going to miss your shipping deadline just like they did for everyone else.
4) Get the Garrett. Really, truly, honestly, you will be happier to not have a churbo blow up on you.
