started mounting the "nestercooler"

I should be done with the brackets/hanging portion tomorrow and move on to piping by Friday. Also clocked the turbo today, to about 5 o'clock. With any luck I can get the downpipe, wideband, and exhaust on next week. Sorry about shitty pics:

looks good ..i like that size of that intercooler... what are you doing for pipes
|
I have a bunch of miscellaneous pipes, couplers, and T-clamps I bought from drftem and lazzer that I'm going to figure something out with.
|
I like seeing someone else rock the blinker remove into vent mod.....
|
sorry to let you down mang, I was just throwing the bumper on for the pic. The TSIs are on a cardboard tray nearby.
|
car looks good, intercooler is great,// dimensions, price, where you bought?
|
22x9x3 core, bought from Nester, forgot ow much I paid.

Is nester selling these
|
He used to be, i'm sure if you wanted the same intercooler he could probably get it.
Or you can find a similar one on ebay or cxracing.com |
well it's good to know what my own 22 x 9 x 3 will look like
|
I ordered some more piping and silicone last night, and got a new drain flange so I can clock straight down and take out some more piping. Also I cut out those little "fangs" visible in the first pic, then last night I got my GV lip from the painter.
|
Did you have to remove the front bumper cover to install this I/C? Did it fit with out any modifications to the car?
|
Damn, that looks good.
Yes, I can get more of these, if anyone wants one. |

I was selling them for 166 + shipping. varies depending on your location.. generally 20-25 bucks ground.
|
Koto i know this is way off topic but why is there tape on your headlights? Also maybe time to integrate a scooper as well with that mounting hardware it would be simple.
|
I agree this IC looks nice.
How about fitting this intercooler with air conditioning? I presume it won't fit because of interference with the AC dryer, but the end tanks look like they have pretty generous clearance in that area. Also, how is it mounted up top? Does it have tabs like the bottom? |
damn that looks good...:D

jay - the way I did it, the bumper cover would have to come off. There may be another way to do it but I wanted to ensure I could reach everything easily.
magna - my dad did it as a joke to emulate old school Ferrari racers and I liked the look, so it stayed. A scooper would definitely be easy. dilla - dunno about AC, I relocated mine to a landfill in Georgia. I know some have moved the AC dryer into the bay. The bottom supports the weight, the top tabs are just keeping it steady in the mouth. The endtanks are about 3/4" from the metal bumper so they hold it still. all - thanks! I'm really happy with the fitment too. I'm surprised no one's criticized me for "overkill/too big for Greddy" yet. |

It's pretty obvious the bumper cover is off the car.
No shit. I was asking if it HAD to come off. He may have had it off for other reasons. |

then maybe you should have asked "could you have installed it without removing the front bumper cover"?

easy fellas..

Got it finished the other day, but thanks to a backorder, not piped yet. boo backorder. So now it's just hanging in the mouth.
On the plus side I got my DP/test pipe/exhaust in today, and I never want to do that install again - bitch and a half. Aside from trimming to clear the WG arm and the pipe touching the transmission it fits fine. more pics: Attachment 215639 Attachment 215640 Attachment 215641 |
looking good

I want pics of the engine bay with new turbo equipment. The IC looks good man.
|
ballin.
|
yeah i wanna see more of were the piping went.
|
soon, remember the intercooler is not piped yet, so the stock crossover tube is still in place. The pipes are supposed to arrive today.
Speaking of piping - drftem, check inside your new pipes. If they're anything like your old ones, they're full of oil. |
Nice look!
but 2 points I like to throw in here. 1: piping will be long and cornered a lot probably. This can cause less boost and throttle response 2: are you sure your water cooler still gets enough cold air? Many FI Miatas have bigger water coolers, like mine. There is good reason for! reducing the eficiency of the small OE cooler might cause boiling system. Falk |

Falk - the turbo will be clocked straight down when the piping goes in, lessening the piping. I won't have any more (actually, I'll have fewer) bends than the more popular forms of routing intercoolers with Greddy based systems. The radiator will be upgraded soon! I also intend to build a "scooper" for it. Where are you from? You have a very thick "accent".
Magna - I already do :) |
from Germany...
what I did lately on M45 supercharger car: we have installed the IC between the radiator and the motor more or less sharp under the crank pullye. The IC is angled, will get a scoope in future. Benefit is ~short tubing, four ~90 degree bends. I will post a pic later. Falk |
how did you run the intercooler pipings with ur oem radiator?

slight update: I FINALLY started piping the damn thing
notice the greddy WGA cowering under its replacement Attachment 214860 Attachment 214861 Attachment 214862 Attachment 214863 Attachment 214864 Attachment 214865 this was unintentional, but I like the BOV showing anyway. Attachment 214866 |
no comments at all? srsly?
|
you should buy stock in clamps. Looks good though :)
|
Looks pretty good but i see no WI nozzle ;)
|
no WI nozzle yet, magna, it's still in the plastic pipe.
|
What happens to that intake bypass valve hose from the stock intake?
|
Looks great. Make sure you paint or coat the mild steel pipes.. They will not look so good once the rust sets in.
|
why put the bov so low? i mean it looks great and thats the exact size i want too but im just wondering

I want to know how the IC is bolted to the car personally. Is it using the old tow hook points? Thats the reason why I want to get a begi intercooler. |
I wanted the BOV to be coldside and that's the area I came up with. I'll have to re-arrange things when I go MAP anyway so I'll be re-doing the coldside. The idle valve fitting is curing (J-B weld, again, temporary) and consists of a copper fitting from HD, I'll post pics of that later. None of these are steel btw, all Aluminum.
Sam - see the first page of the thread for IC mounting. |
wow, I like it. Very clean, and short pipeing route.
|
that makes me wish i got the bigger IC now... but my install will be alor easier having pre bent pipes for the greddy miata. so its all good!
looks good by the way. |
