Stock 1.6 FMII Hydra dyno needed

Hi there,

I have been looking for a dyno run of a FMII hydra with the GT2560 on a stock 1.6 engine. Easy to find modded ones or 1.8 runs but I am having trouble finding just the hydra kit run, links ecu I have found from the old kit but thats not what I'm looking for. Please help. Thanks

did you ask FM?

MrStevo 03-18-2011 06:00 PM

I haven't yet no, just thought I'd try ask here first so that some personal feedback about the run could be added maybe. I will contact Brandon at FM next week for it otherwise and post it up, I'm sure I'm not the only person wanting it.

Not exactly what you asked for but perhaps close enough. Stock 1.6 FMII Hydra w/GT2554R.

Thanks that helps quite a bit, was interested in the data on the GT2554R anyway. Still needing for the GT2560 however. How much boost were you running there? Do you have the boost map for that run at all?

130ft.lbs at 4000rpm? Something is very, very wrong with that chart.

This is what a well-tuned 2554R chart looks like: ('99 motor, 2554R, 3" exhaust, MSPNP)

Is that '99 motor a 1.8 though? surely that would make quite a difference to the low end, to me the power is coming in a little late on such a small turbo on the first graph. perhaps a stock exhaust and a slightly off tune??

Braineack 03-19-2011 10:12 AM

that had to be on a stock exhaust.

And a clogged cat, hopefully. It's a ~60ft.lb difference at 4000rpm. Either way, that FMII chart isn't a good representation of what the 2554R can do.

Seems like it's hard to get a set of solid dyno results from a stock kit on a stock small engine...everyone just ramps it up! lol don't blame them, I'll ask FM for a comparison of the GT2554R and the GT2560R on the 1.6 FMII hydra. Hopefully they will have the results. My memory might be bad but I have never seen that before, could be wrong, the trade for spool vs power will be interesting on the stock 1.6 in the hands of the Hydra Nemesis

Here's what I was told about the car. It's a stock 1.6 with essentially stock exhaust. 100 degrees ambient. Running ~9psi. All on a Dynojet.

Savington 03-19-2011 08:56 PM

Stock exhaust is the only relevant thing. Weather, boost, and dyno will just affect the numbers, not the curve.

I'd want to see a pull with wideband numbers too, just to confirm.

At what PSI? My Greddy made more than that on 10PSI.

Would you like to dyno it for me? I'm in possession of this, apparently sadly tuned/running car.:loser::bang:

Savington 03-19-2011 09:59 PM

Who tuned the car in the first place?

halfpint 03-19-2011 10:55 PM

I just purchased the car and I was told it was tuned by Rick Benitez @ TurboHoses here in the Bay Area.

Savington 03-20-2011 12:07 AM

Would you be able to take a datalog of a 3rd gear pull from 2000rpm-6000rpm, showing TPS, manifold pressure, and AFRs? Just to see whether the tune is where it should be. It's important to start at 2000rpm and snap the throttle open as quickly as you can. It's possible that the stock 1.6 cat/exhaust is really that restrictive, but it would surprise me to be honest.

If the tune's actually good, you DESPERATELY need to swap the exhaust on that thing - it will absolutely transform the car.

MrStevo 03-21-2011 04:18 PM

FM don't have the dyno runs I am looking for, someone here should have them...if you do please post
