Stock evo injectors??
Hey guys, did a search, turned up nothing, will the stock injectors out of an evo 8 (565cc) work on a miata? I see a lot of people running 440's (stock 4g63 injector) Dont stone me, i just sold my 11sec 400hp 4g63 mirage and got a miata that im building a kit for as we speak. Thanks for the help.

Miata Turbo FAQ: Fuel Injectors
I didn't see it on the list, but there you go anyways. 100 posts. WOOT WOOT. |
I honestly dont know either, but have heard of the wrx 440's working
depends what year your car is and if they are high or low impedience and i doubt they would be just plug and play but you could make them work
why would year matter? people use the newer miata injectors on the older miata's all the time, dont they?
they are too short. maybe 4mm or so...maybe if the fuel rail spacers were removed, but it's a long-shot.
I run 550's so there not to big, I even herd of a guy running 1000's I think his user name is CEO, but he's got a crazy set up.
oh wait I'm thinking of WRX and STi injectors...i dunno what the EVO injectors look like...
they look like they work, other than the connector at least, but they may be short as well, it's hard to tell.
If the DSM 450s work... those will. I like the 560 evos alot over the older dsm 450s. Better spray pattern for smoother idle and smoother everything. Its a 4 point spray design vs single center pintle.
This is from honda useage though... i run rx7 550s on the miata. |
evo injectors will not work they are peak and hold not saturated i looked into it they are not plug and play atleast u could use a resistor or something maybe i forget wat i read on how to use them for the miata but its more trouble than its worth
There is a way to make EVO injectors work. We did it on Ivan's car. You do need to use a specific resistor pack, but it can be done. I think the final cost of 440/460 cc injectors and resistor pack was around $200.00.

ya because they are peak and hold not saturated i figured u just need resistors or something its just more trouble than they are worth. just go with rc's if u want something big thats wat i had in my evo the 750s and 1000s are great. obviously not many guys on here need that big but im sure their 550s are great too
used Deatschwerks for both my 650's and 750's and loved em
The stock Evo injector will work but you'll need new clips and may need ballast resistors. I bought RC750's (part # PL4-0750D - D for Denso type) which are listed as suitable for the Evo after advice from another miata owner running them.

Yes you will need resistors--the stock Evo injectors are low impedance.
Anyone tried the Bosch saturated injectors sold by injectordynamics.com? No affiliation, etc. Heck, I don't even know if they'd fit a Miata. They're eons more modern than the injectors sold by RC, FIC, etc. |
I'm pretty sure they're high impedance, I'm sure I would've checked that prior to using them. Work great on my car.
They're low impedance, and they're used with a 6 ohm resistor pack and saturated drivers from the factory.
Well damn, I've been running them for well over a year w/o resistor packs, what kind of damage will that do?
