I would have suggested an o2 clamp but with the hesitation point being as high as it was it didn't seem like that could be it. You don't happen to use the stock DP & wastegate setting do you?

Mimime 01-18-2007 11:51 PM

STOCK to the bone!

Mimime 01-19-2007 07:44 AM

Bastard!! Its happening again, but now its at a higer rpm! haha.. .

I think the Emanage has to be installed with some dyno time!

bripab007 01-19-2007 07:52 AM

Yeah, as much as I like Bruce's O2 clamp, I kinda figured there was no way it would fix your problem. The only time the O2 clamp comes into play is part-throttle at <4000 RPM. Did you ever get a wideband on the car? Without that, you're pretty much just shooting in the dark. If you don't get this sorted, you may find it crop up again with the eManage; you need to figure this one out first.

There is one more source, I might take out the JDM Greddy Turbo kit supplied FUEL CONTROL UNIT.

It could be this unit fucking around with the car.

Please see attachment on the diagram if that make any sense.

Braineack 01-19-2007 08:30 AM

ohhhhh, you got have the JDM version.....I'd pull it, you're fine with just an FMU. That modifies the AFM signal, so I can see it reeking havoc.

We can never have too much information. When you told us you had a Vortech, I didn't think you would have the "Black Box" installed also.

jayc72 01-19-2007 09:26 AM

So this did turn out to be an issue with over fueling?

bripab007 01-19-2007 10:00 AM

Oh snap! Dude, you have both the "black-box fueling" [i]and[/] the Vortec FPR running?!

Mimime 01-19-2007 11:09 AM

This morning I thought i got it all sorted... but it just delay the issue! as such I reintalled the Vortech and the problem is worst! I think the BLACK BOX and VORTECH will be gettin divorce tomorrow morning! haha

Mimime 01-19-2007 11:19 AM

Is this Vortech with 12:1 disk?

jayc72 01-19-2007 11:25 AM

The black box tricks the ECU into running rich. You either need the vortech OR the black box, not both. This is why you are running pig rich and explains the hesitation.

Mimime 01-19-2007 11:30 AM

Will definitly take out the BLACK BOX and throw it into the BLACK HOLE tomorrown morning!

Braineack 01-19-2007 04:32 PM

Considering it doesn't have a ring for the disc, then I would assume 12:1

or measure it:
12:1 - 2.72"

yeah, I'd throw out the box. It has been working for tons of others to just run the FMU without any other fueling device. I thought the JDM kits didn't have a FMU at all and can only fuel for about 4-5psi tops.

Mimime 01-19-2007 11:11 PM

HI Braineak,

I took out the BOX, seems running fine but still needs more testing on the road.

As for the Vortech disk, could I trim the disk to get down to a 10:1 or 8:1?

olderguy 01-19-2007 11:30 PM

The smaller discs have a ring that goes around the outside so that the disc does not transmit the pressure of the full surface area of the diaphragm. This is what reduces the pressure ratio.

Mimime 01-19-2007 11:42 PM

There is what I am running now:
1.8 Injectors
AFPR- liner rising (some Italy brand)
190hp Walbro
4-5 psi
O2 clamp

4sfed5 01-20-2007 12:32 AM

at 5 psi it sounds like you have waaaay too much fuel....the fuelling setup you have with the 1.8's and afpr is enough for 8-9 psi let alone 5 psi....take it to a dyno and do a run and youll see exactly where your at insted of replacing parts and spending loads of time tinkering......when i first set up my car it was waaaaay to rich and it would cough and buck like it had dropped a cylinder until i got it on the dyno and saw the afr was under 9:1:eek4: .

Mimime 01-20-2007 04:42 AM

THANKS EVERYONE ....! THIS CASE IS FINALLY CLOSED!

removed the Blackbox and did a whole day of testing! everything is A OK!

Braineack 01-20-2007 12:30 PM

What, it wasn't overfueling?! It was a little black box reeking havoc?!

Although now you should think about a new FMU disc.
