Turbo rebuilt, and now another problem...
So I installed the rebuilt tdo4 today, took it for a drive, and right when I pulled into the driveway.........smoke.
Looked underneath the car and I noticed OIL leaking from between the cat and downpipe flanges. WTF Chuck. The only thing I can think of now is that oil is being backed up and leaking into the exhaust. Correct assumption? After looking at my oil return situation, I'm not happy that the Greddy flange is pointed towards the driver's fender and has to do a 180 back to the engine to drain. Does anyone make a drain flange that is straight instead of cocked to one side?? |
i bought a flange and put my own adaptor on it and it goes staright down.
|
let it burn off....impress your friends...a few pulls in boost will get all the shit out...
|
Problem solved.
I clocked the turbo so that the flange pointed down more, chopped off about an inch of the snout, made sure there was no up-hill in the return, and went for a nice long ride. I was worried at first because the smoke wouldn't go away and the turbo was lagging a bit, but once I drove it for a few more miles, everything cleared up, power came back, and I'm happier then Micheal Jackson at Disneyland! |
michael jackson is happy in neverland,so he can be a boy and play with peter pan.
its good to hear it cleared up. |
had the same problem when i put the turbo back on... it smoked like crazy for a mile... and now doesn't smoke as much...but still...whitish smoke haze? i'm like this is gayyy...
