Turbo Recommendation
So I'm building a 1.8 motor and im going with forged internals and 8.8:1 compression .040" overbore pistons . and ARP studs on everything. what kind/size turbo would you guys recommend for a strip/steet car. (im new to turbos, still learning). Thanks for help

what are the power and torque curve goals
|
A big one.
But seriously that's not enough info. Goals? Budget? You'll get better results if you read through some build threads and see what others experienced than if you just ask us questions. |

Id like to be around 275-300 Hp with 220-240 torque. budget about $3500-$4000. 3" exhaust.. MS..
Ive been checking some different builds out. |
Then you use the same turbo as everyone else in existence, in 90% of those build threads you've been checking out.
2560. |
Yeah I've seen them. its seems like a relatively small turbo tho. i mean I'd like to go with more power but Im not sure what these tansmissions can handle.

Make up your mind. |
I know I know, honestly I would like to get as much power as the motor can handle but still be drivable on the street.

Here's a chart Soviet made that might help you figure out what your goals are:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408123346 If you want as much power as the engine can handle (assuming you do a few upgrades) you gon break shit on the street. |
^Troof.
Motor in our car isn't the most insane thing in the world, but if i did the work to push it, nothing else in the car would hold together. Nothing. |
Know what i would do, OP?
Ever been in a 250whp Miata? I'd shoot for 250whp. Get an FM2 kit with the 2560, run it on stock motor. Transmission will survive, it'll last forever with a good tune, and it'll be cheaper. Still fast. Because... and stay with me here... you won't get a built motor, turbo kit, clutch, standalone, fueling, etc etc etc all for your $4k budget. $4k gets you a turbo setup. Spending another couple thousand just to make another 25-50hp is dumb. |

Fair enough. haha and i like the chart. thats what i was worried about. "everything else" so ill stick to my original goals and run a 2560.

IMO you should check out the FAQs
