turbo tony dp
Picked up a used tony dp, installed it today and the wideband. All that I can say is get rid of that puny dp that came with the kit. The new dp woke the car up a lot. I get so much more flow, and now I can even hear the spool up of the turbo unlike before. Beautiful. I will start tuning the emanage and getting the WI dialed in, and hopefully burn up the stock clutch. Then I will turn the boost up with my new injectors that I got, 305cc's.

I wish I could locate a used Tony's DP soon, since Begi is about to launch their DP!
Any estimate on how much earlier it spools?
It seems to make the spool a little more linear instaed of all at once. I reach full boost about 300-400RPM quicker. I see full boost now at 3200RPM. I also upped the boost up to 8psi, so it spools up to more boost, quicker. I can't wait to see the results of the begi pipe. Mimime, people will probably want to get the begi pipe, so just try and talk to some people that have the tony dp, and you can probably score one also. I also run a cat now, and all this happens with a high flow cat compared to straight through prior.

How big is the dp? I am trying to get the RM 2.5" dp, but they are backordered for a month and not the most service-oriented places I have dealt with.
They are backordered more than a month, it's probably been about 2 years now. Tony's downpipes are the old RM DPs, as he's the one who built them at RM.
It is 2.5", just contact him and you will be very happy with the results when you get it.

Most of the aftermarket 1.6 cats, even the "High Performance" ones, do not use 2.5" flanges however. Typically they tend to be in the 2.25" range. So you're sacrificing some flow by using such a cat. Tony also sells a cat which is size-matched to his system. It's a stainless Magnaflow unit, to which he attaches 2.5" pipe and flanges. I just passed CA emissions with one last weekend, so it's a decent unit. I don't recall exactly what I paid him for it, but I think it was well under $150. |
