TurboTony Downpipe Experience
Well I just wanted to compliment Tony on the turnaround speed of his downpipe. I had initially asked him for a downpipe with a flex section, and a week or two later I provided him the funds. Within 1-2 days I had an email and a tracking number for a downpipe headed my way. Unbelievable service! Thanks! :bigtu:

Tony's a good dude to deal with.
BTW: Tony, sorry I haven't gotten those exhaust pieces to you yet, we haven't gotten EVERYTHING squared up here. In fact, I'm running mufflerless right now, boy does that hurt the ears! Also, I have a couple of more suggestions for designs if you're game. |
sweet! i'm gonna wait till my greddy kit is on and running smoothly untill i start throwing even more money into it right away.
rappadan, I would reccomend going ahead and getting it that way you dont have to go thru the hastle of removing the stock greddy DP. But if funding is a promlem, like it is mine, i would wait. But i waited untill i had the money and then I bought tonys dp, then installed my greddy to save time in re installing a dp.
I would get tony's dp as soon as you can.
i am just itching to make shure it is all right...then start making it faster..... but i guess if i am selling my JR header for like 200 than it wouldnt take much to get the DP.
Thanks yall |
Yes, get it ASAP. I got mine about a month after I got my turbo installed, it didn't get installed until another month later.
Can you get the downpipe installed without having to remove the turbo and manifold? I want to buy the manifold, but I don't want to have to do much disassembly.
If you install it up from underneath you shouldn't have to. Makes it harder not to scratch the exposed end though.

You should be able to remove the bolts to the turbo & cat and drop the old dp down(with the stock pipe in place). Then from underneath fish the new one up.

I dont have the greddy kit, but I've worked on mine so much that I can get the turbo off the car within 10 minutes.
Not to be a party pooper, but b/c the sharp bend toward the turbo with Tony's pipe, installing from underneath is near impossible. I and others tried several times without success. I know it's a pain, but I think most of us have had to remove the turbo to install it. But then again, it could just be my poor contorting skills...:)
I never had problems doing mine this way, but again I dont have a greddy, so the angles may be a little different.
Yes, once you've seen how far back and high the Greddy turbo sits, you'll realize it just ain't gonna happen. My turbo is considerably further forward than the Greddy, and it's still a pain in the butt getting the 2.5" downpipe in from underneath.
