About to pull the trigger on a Begi-S1
I am looking into a Begi-S1 and am using this thread as a sounding board.
My ultimate power goal is about 220whp. That in mind, does this sound like a reasonable setup?
Begi-S1 with GT2560 upgrade (necessary for 220whp? or will the GT2554 be sufficient?)
Walbro 190HP fuel pump (already have)
Bipes ACU (already have)
3" exhaust (already have)
ACT XT clutch (already have)
AEM wideband (already have)
Now the tricky part:
305 cc injectors? (bigger? what can the 1.6 ECU idle?) I have 1.8 tantops right now.
RX7 AFM? (depends on above, i suppose)

You can get 305's to idle on the factory ECU. RX7 AFM would be a good idea because from what I understand you can configure it to send a signal that will provide more fuel then it would normally. But if your getting the AFPR you dont need the Rx7 to do what i said.
220hp is cake with that setup.

I believe that the general consensus is that the 2560 will get you to 240. I just finished installing my s1 and its pretty sweet. The only thing i was disappointed in was the quality of the a-pillar gauge mount, but, maybe i was expecting too much?

Great plan... here's my advice for your 220whp goal.
I assume since you don't list an AFPR as something you already have, that you're going with the S1w/Begi Fuel System for $3164.
Stick with the 2554r.
Sell the Bipes ( you can still get $100 for them).
Sell your Walbro 190lphHP and re-install stock fuel pump (make $80).
Go on the wagon for 1 month (save $100).
Now you've got enough for the BegiS1 w/Megasquirt PnP $3419.
You've already got the wideband... and all you need is injectors, which you needed anyways.
Check RX7club.com and wait for a pair of PnP 550's... have them cleaned.
Now you can get your 220whp at about 2psi less than with the FMU and have a spank'in flat fuel curve... plus, out of boost your mileage won't suffer. I'm getting 28mpg on the freeway. W/bandaids, I got 22mpg on a good day.

I actually had an MSPNP and FCTII 550's on my old Greddy setup, but I could never get the car to start reliably.
I also ran an Emanage blue for a while and had good results with it. Took a trip to North Carolina and got 30mpg out of it. In the end, i didn't care much for the Emanage though.
I am considering giving the MSPNP another try in the near future, but I'm not so sure my neighbors are going to like me bringing back the "Miata Howitzer".

Yeah, we'll see. I just talked to Corky at BEGi (he answered the phone. lol. Sounds like they are shorthanded today). Talked about Cajun food for about 5 minutes after he found out where I was from (lol) and then got down to business.
Base BEGi-S1 kit with GT2560
Also adding the following optional components:
Stainless Oil Drain Line, Cold Air Box, and Radiator Cover
Steph is on vacation, so I guess we'll see how long it takes to get my quote.
By the way, sounds like they are running about 3-4 weeks lead time right now. Maybe one of you Texas guys with fabrication skillz should go ask for a job!

Hey Trent; I like your plan. I would only change the Bipes part. There's no way you're more "mechanically challenged" than I and Chad (cjernigan) made me an MS to run in parallel in my car (I've got a 96) and assisted me all the way. In fact, when he sent it to me he had already tested all the basic settings in his own car!
If I were you I'd contact him. I can't say enough good things about Chad; plus, the MS in that case would not cost you anything close to the MSPNP's price.
Good luck with your project.

That's interesting. I called just after lunch. She might have left this morning or something. Corky said she was going to the Northeast for something.
BTW, in response to above, I am CONSIDERING going with the MSPNP again, but I would need some help developing an .msq. If you guys don't ban me for asking stupid questions, I might consider it. lol.

You've already got the wideband... and all you need is injectors, which you needed anyways.

Which is about another 6-700$$ ??
And also plenty of time mucking around getting it going right??
Not trying to be pessimistic just seeing the whole picture...Or can you somehow get around dyno tuning with MsPnP??

WTF!!!!!!!
I see so many people getting flamed for '"Not Reading" or "Not searching the Archives" -And here I am getting told not to drag up stuff 6months old, after searching and reading up on old posts !!!
Man- I read the FAQ's... It didn't say there was a time limit!
I'm one of the newb's that is ACTUALLY reading and studying up.
No disrespect but thats pretty gay
Its like Y8S signature... you know that picture about the cake and eating it too!
