hey guys! its been a while since i have posted by i ended up selling my miata last year. I loved the car dont get me wrong but things came up and i had to sell it. i recently bought a Buick Grand National and i love it..but while i was doing some research on Turbo regal performance i came across a nice guy named Julio (razor) he sells Alky injection kits which are perfect for turbo setups...as you all know spark knock and detonation is the enemy of turbo cars..the alky inkection allows you to run alot more boost with no knock..on the turbo buicks some are running upwards of 28 lbs. of boost! :eek4: He hasnt made a kit specific for a miata yet but im sure he can do it! the kits he has now comes equipped with a controller to set what boost level the alky starts to come in so your not wasting you alky as soon as it hits boost. WOT has already been hooking up the miata crew for a few months now with Devils Own Kit's via excellent money saving group buys.

i seen the water injection..i didnt know if they also offered a alky injection system too...theres quite a few advantages running alky of water..just thought id throw the idea out there and help some people out...sry if i stepped on any ones toes i havent been up to date with the miata crew for a while..

its the same thing, just use alcohol or a mix in the tank.

The Alky kits don't require special Alky injectors and Alky pumps?! Is the standard tubing Alky compatible?!

All the Devils Own stuff is compatable.

Seen the kit! looks really nice! also looks like a great price for it. what kind of boost numbers are you guys running now?

Most these guys are dragging their feet getting it up and running. I think we only have one here who is running it on their Miata currently.

I am currently at 5psi, and the car runs great. The main thing right now is I need more fueling, then I can up the boost. I am currently running 10btdc (which is stock) with absolutely no knock present.

Hey, now. My kit came in late last week, I've been putting in the wiring for the past few days- hope to have it running this weekend.

Which brings me to a slight question- mine came with the molded plastic check valve, which I understand goes on the high pressure side, between the pump and the nozzle. Does the tubing just slip over the ends of the check valve and stay there, or is there supposed to be some sort of clamp? 100PSI sounds like a lot for a barbed slip-fit connection. (though admittedly, I haven't test-fit the tubing onto the valve for fear of not being able to get it back off.)

it just pushed on. Mine hasnt come off. I think once you try to fit it over you'll see just how hard you have to push it on. I think ill eventually be picking up one of the new check valves though. Too bad it wasn't already out when we bought our kits.

Yes the checkvalve slips into the hose. Its not going anywhere....trust me.

Seriously though, I'm definitely getting close. The fueling situation with the EMU is coming nicely under control, now that I've finally figured out how to engage both I/J maps simultaneously. I'm up to about 9PSI so far, and I'm starting to hear just a little bit of pinging again. I'm so sick and damn tired of having to constantly reduce my ignition timing, I can't wait to get this system in.

For the sake of speeding things up, once everything is in final position I think I may spend some time on a dyno getting my fuel maps finished with the WI disabled. Maybe afterwards I'll turn it on, re-advance the timing and do a power pull. Probably be sometime January before I can get to that with my travel schedule this month. And then a month later I get to rip all this stuff back off for my smog inspection. Oh joy.

BTW- those pics you posted a while back showing the size of the controller, well, lemme say I didn't realize how tiny those phones were y'all were using to compare it to. This will fit beautifully on the panel beneath the radio.

How much alcohol are you going through on an average. Do you think a 1 gallon tank would be enough, or is the 2 gallon recommended?

I really cant answer that question yet. I've only had mine installed for a week and I'm grounded until tomorrow because of a leak at my fuel rail. I'll have it fixed tomorrow and will begin fine tuning the fuel and then ignition over the weekend. I would spend all day doing it tomorrow but finals are coming up and I have a huge programming project due monday morning. I will keep everyone posted in my install thread as I have updates though.

from the alky kits installed on the TR's 1 gallon would be plenty it doesnt use a whole lot of alky..i beleive someone said you might be able to run through the tank in 2-3 days if you were really beating the heck out of the car..HTH

I have a 2.5 gal tank, and I drive the hell out of the car. You just barely notice anything out of the tank. Also, I am using the smaller nozzle, so if you are using a bigger nozzle, you are going to be using more. I also turned the pump pressure up some to combat the knock that I was getting at one point in the rpm range. You barely even notice with a bigger tank, but then again, I am stuck on this little tiny island, so I cannot go very far. Just install a fluid low alarm in there.

I'll be running either a 2 or a 3gph nozzle, most likely the 3. I plan on running a 1 gallon tank because the 2.5's are hugemongous and I like trunk space.
Neo- I'm with you on those finals. I have machine shop projects and electronics projects due next week so i'm trying to get all that done today. Damn rifle team commitment is killing this weekend. Driving to WVU for a match fri-sun. Good luck on the finals!
