Wastegate leaking
I was trying to test my wastegate and there appears to be air leaking from where the rod comes out, the arm will not fully move out, so that one appears to be dead, can anyone recommend me a replacement that won't cost the earth?

TiAL.

I'm assuming you mean the whole wastegate and not just the wastegate actuator on an internally gated turbo.
Tial is great but pricey. Some have had good luck with the tial knockoffs on ebay. |
Sorry its the actuator that's leaking, new to all this turbo stuff :D

just as a update, I have a boost control solenoid so don't need a adjustable unit, as far as I can see.

What kind of turbo are you running?

Its a Greddy kit

It was recommended to me to buy one from Begi. Supposed to be very reliable, but it was pricey. Cost 33% of my china turbo. However, it is probably a part that you don't want to cheap out on. AS IS the consensus seems to be that the internal WG puts you at a disadvantage from the start.

Well, it's common knowledge that an externally gated compressor is ideal unless you are running a tiny turbo, which is typically along the lines of economical OEM units that make low boost at very low RPM. However, chances are the eGay actuator will fair just fine for what most people need them for.

Just about any WG actuator will do, though of course anything but an OEM replacement will require a little modification to fit on your turbo.
I got mine from FM. It was an old Garrett one they had lying around surplus, for cheap. I fabricated a new mounting plate for it from sheet steel, then cut and re-threaded the arm to the proper length. Fairly easy to do. |
Ive got a brand new ATP 6lb actuator with an adj. billet mount lying around if your interested. Shoot me a PM/offer.
Gary OI! though you are in the UK shipping would be wicked |
Yeah I'm in the UK so should imagine post would be a little pricey.
