What a fun filled lunch break

I flushed my radiator during my lunch break today and I'm glad I did. Not only did it cure my running hot problem but I discovered another problem:

As I was tightening my bov tubing back up, I noticed it kept slipping off as I was tightening. I used two 45* pvc bends and as I was tightening them the heat was just warping them more and more. The heat had gotten to them and started melting, which introduced a vacuum leak in the system. I replaced them with copper bends and all is good. It spools earlier and faster, and the BOV is signifigantly louder and higher pitched.

Not only that, but the a/c is working better and its idling correctly with the a/c turned on.

I also fixed my boost gauge to read 0 when the car if off, it was reading around 1.5 when it shut off. Now it's reading 6psi at full boost. So I guess I'm making 170hp at 6psi, which is nice to know. :bigtu:

Yeah, how great a feeling is that to fix several problems that've been plauging you? So nice when things just work out like that :)

I would have never in the world thought of checking the pvc bends. Although it should have hit me when I would check for leaks that I would always tighten them more and more a little each day almost.

PVC starts softening at 160 degrees F. Doesn't have any good uses under the hood. If you need to fab using plastic, nylon is a much better choice.
