Default Wideband Questions

Ok, as you all know I purchased drewbroo's miata. I am 100% still learning. The setup: BEGI S3 with the EXEDE Fuel upgrade and 550 inj, and a Innovate LC-1 Wideband.
I am confused on what is rich and lean. I have had several people tell me different things. The readings are not consistent from day to day. Yesterday I was on the interstate croosin at 75mph in 5th WB reading 10.5-11.5 as I would try to accelerate the car bogs down studdering and the WB varies from 8.7 to 10.5. To day it does not bog down when I hit boost the WB reads 10.5-11.5.

Also when I am in idle the WB can be 12 or so then next time I stop it can be around 17. I am confused I have asked around locally and could not get any consistent answers.

I know I need to bring the car in to get retuned but *** we all know funds are low at this time. Is their anything I can do to resolve some of this?

As I said i am as green as it gets on this stuff and I know something is off.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

rule of thumb.

out of boost = 14.7:1
bit 'o gas = 13:1
in boost = 12:1

so with that said: idle 14.7, highway cruise 14.7, part throttle just out of boost acceleration 13:1, massive boost overload 12:1. Anything richer than 11.5:1 is not recommended. you can idle and cruise leaner if you want and save gas.

AFs can be affected by temperature, altitude, barometric pressure and a ton of other variables as well.

What if you're burning a shitpile of oil? Like 1qt/500mi?
What's that do to a WB signal?

I've asked around a bit and I haven't gotten much info on it...

What I would do is log the AF numbers through the Innovate serial program. And send the numbers to steph, and see if she can correct them through mapping the xede differently.

Or sell the Xede and get the new PnP MS... with wide band integration. The megasquirt crowd seems to be able to get tuning done easier.

For some reason my computer is not finding the Xede. I am sure it is something I am doing wrong. I dont think MS is even out for the 96 yet? The current setup with a good tune will be just fine. Steph said she will send me new fuel maps upon request. So, time will tell.

MS for the 96/97 was just released Feb. 12th.

So you just missed the introductory sale...

My advice, sell the car to me

SRQ Miata's will take good care of it for ya Come down for the meet tonight, and we can help you out with it. You know the place, Buffalo Wild Wings on Clarke Rd.

If you are having problems communicating with the Xede (i mean the computer, not you -verbally ) then there is an issue with the serial cable. Give me a call and I can help you resolve. it. However, I need you at the computer, in the car, in order to troubleshoot. Sounds like it would be very easy to fix once connected. This car probably needs a summer and winter map is all.
