Well after working for two days about 4 hrs each day i am almost done with my front mount starion intercooler i have a few pics of the install and am going to do a bit of a write up once im done on how it went and what to expect blah blah blah alrighty heres some pics
1.First pic is my car w/ the stock hose which really didnt hold the boost pressure w/ the duct tape too well.
2.Who needs a/c anyways
3.My buddy grinding down the clips on the side of the rad so it can be lowered.
4.My other buddy grinding down the holes for the piping in the front o the car
5.The burnt towel from the previous pic of grinding:eek5:
More news tomorrow.

Hey with all that effort why not stick a larger and/or better intercooler in there? I mean you might as well while you got the bumper off :bigtu: . I am sure you can sell the starion for what you got it for. I used the fairly ghetto jimb pipes, took me like 4 or so hours to get in. :gay:

cheesecow1 07-17-2006 02:47 AM

all piping is from one of those ebay auctions for mandrel bent aluminum piping w/ fastners and silicone connectors

drftem 07-18-2006 12:43 AM

my goodness that is sex, i've got my mind made up. lol. except i plan to use the evo intercooler.
so how's the hood situation? do you have to modify the hood any? im assuming hood pins now?

turbotony 07-19-2006 10:27 PM

that ic setup looks nice but here in texas its too damn hot not to have A/C.
very good job tho.

I have no ac. Thinking of putting it back in, need a compressor. Im use to the heat from Az but it dose suck in traffic.

Looks good, but why didnt you use a better intercooler? I have a Starion and basically cant wait to get rid of that thing.

umm look at the 4th pic on the 3rd post if you look at the hood you can see the hack job i did to get the 90° bends to fit under the front of the hood there are some fitement issues with the 180° bend coing straight off of the turbo but i think i'll be able to make it fit if i move the air intake to a diff location(right now i have to sit on my hood to make it close :gay: , unfortunately right now i need to get an exhaust leak fixed and then ill be good to start tooning w/ my emanage

Braineack 07-25-2006 03:53 PM

why dont you put the 90* off the compressor housing and run the pipe straight the whole way?

hehe. yeah i noticed, i was just wondering if you still had issues closing even though the hack job is done. i ask because im just trying to find a way to make them fit without modifying the hood at all (well if the stock latch isnt functional, only mod to hood would be some pins.) but looks good man, pics got me all pumped up for my setup. all i need is money :( i hate being 17

doesnt quite meet up, and wouldnt that cause the air to be much more turbulent right at the exit of the turbine which would be bad (correct me if im wrong and i'll make it work), btw went to napa and ordered some great gasket material that cost me about $10 and made some gaskets that are working out great for my shoddy:gay: i mean greddy turbo "kit" , now i think ill toon it and see how long my shorty nose 1.6l will hold out till oops 1.8l time uhhhhhhh and bigger turbine time:bigtu: this is the gasket material i used cool stuffhttp://www.dana.com/Automotive_Syste...me_gasket.aspx

drftem 08-13-2006 03:20 AM

what size ic piping?

cheesecow1 08-13-2006 05:40 PM

i used 2.5" piping and oh btw the material i used for gaskets on the turbo burnt off in about 20mins but it worked well until it burnt off. I ordered the 300zx turbo gasket and it works great :bigtu:
