WTB: 1.6 Greddy outlet pipe
Hey all,
New to turbos. Recently bought a 1.6 Greddy kit (used) for my 90. The kit I bought had an HKS BOV on the outlet pipe - and as I'm not going to use an ecu at this point, would like to find an outlet pipe with nothing coming in/out of it. Let me know if you've got one of these collecting dust!!! Thanks. Mav marcelo@mavixconsulting.com |
You don't need an ECU to run a BOV.
I'd say keep it - it'll help you out in the long run! |

just hook it up.. bov stay closed with no vacuum....
|
The way I understand it is that the way this BOV is hooked up, it releases air to atmosphere instead of recirculating it. The result is a messed up reading for pressure throughout the system.
Does that make sense? |
Nope, the BOV actuates from a vacuum source so when you close the throttle it releases the excess boost in the pipe.
You can just leave it in place and it'll work fine regardless and it will help you out anyway by stopping compressor stall. There's no messing up of pressure at all with it installed. |
I still have the outlet pipe, PM an offer if you need it.
|
zoom2zoo,
Let me know what you'd like for the outlet pipe. I can't pm (yet) b/c I'm under 10 posts! Sux 2 b a noob. Thanks. Mav |
:inout:

I ran a BOV to the atmosphere with the stock ECU, nothing bad will happen. The car just runs a tad rich when you shift. Just make sure it does not leak at idle and you will be fine.

I have a VTA BOV myself that i may want use, i would like to see how it is installed on your outlet pipe. Maybe we can swap as I have a base greddy kit coming soon... |

It will save your turbo during shifts and sudden off throttle times too. I really want to get my VTA BOV installed on my cross over pipe until i get an I/C |
Maverick, answer your PM's.
|
I think that atpturbo sells an adapter that will make the hks to where it can be a recirculate valve. Look on atpturbo.com and talk to wideopentuning here, and he canprobably hook you up with what you need to get it done.
