Ok, I'll give it another shot. Thanks.

Edit: the eBay search, that is.

I'll let you know if I need any more pics. I appreciate the offer.

Double ninja edit: I now see that there is a bulge on the pass side of the new radiator.

Yea whatever you need to know just PM and ask, its too much to type out lol.

The aftermarket radiator IS raised up right under the charge pipe but on the stock mounting points I still had no problems, it works fine man.

Just let me know if you need to know where I got anything or what I did/cost etc...

triple88a 11-11-2010 04:40 PM

heh just noticed, whats holding the top of your radiator Trixx?

BoostedTrixx 11-11-2010 04:54 PM

the "top" of it?

Its on the stock mounting locations with stock bolts at the top.

thasac 11-11-2010 04:59 PM

my god, why are so many people on this board so quick to start chopping.

I'm fine with chopping when necessary but there is NO NEED to cut your hood or core support.

Here's my set up, the only cutting was the two small tabs below the core support for the factory upper radiator mounts and a little bit of the lip on the 'frame' rails - nothing structural.

Here's the lower radiator mounts:

I can send people the CAD file to have it laser'd/water jet, you just have to modify the stock mounts yourself and bolt up.

This set up provides both ample room for intercooler piping and tons of room for your preferred fan/sway bar set ups. I confident I can fit a 55mm+ radiator in the car if I wanted. The reason is the bottom of the radiator is nearly in it's factory location as the radiator is just angled.

STOP FUCKING CUTTING YOUR CARS, its ghetto and unnecessary.

Yes the top one. The stock mounts go exactly where your pipes are. Take a look at my image see the 2 rubbers on each end of the radiator right underneath the pipes, on yours i cant see them anywhere lol.

Are you referring to the clearance issues with the PS? The PS canister along with the tank and everything else should be a dumpster anyhow. AC isn't an issue.

My point is I've seen enough people on this board and in this post suggest cutting fairly drastically when it's not necessary - whether it's an NA or NB.

And yes, track dog does it but I've got 300 bucks into my set up and a whole bunch of money left in my budget which I can direct towards more urgent matters - like coilovers and poly bushings.

Ive got less then that, and my charge pipes arent worried about becoming a boost leak. Nor are my radiator mounts different in anyway then stock nor leaned. My "ghetto" setup works as good as your setup, and I would say is more durable.

And yes I have room for whatever radiator I want, or any sway bar/fan setup I want. I actually have the stock fans on it with room to spare.

That hotside charge "pipe" in your picture looks like it sits a little tall.

triple88a 11-11-2010 05:38 PM

heh i got my kit for 550 :P

i have ps and ac...

More durable? doubtful. My radiator mounts are as strong or stronger than stock, 'leaned' is not an issue as you seem to imply (it is 10 degrees at most, nothing that would effect efficiency), I have one less coupler than your set up (which is one less point of failure), my cold side charge pipe is thermally insulated since it's all silicone, and most importantly, my intercooler is not hanging off a core support which is has had both ends severed.

Yes, the hot side is tall - it hasn't been cut yet. $300 was being conservative.

BoostedTrixx 11-11-2010 07:05 PM

Ohh ok, well lets do a sharp edge test on your charge "pipes" and mine. Report back with results please.

My radiator is not "leaned" at all, its sitting in its OE position, as it was designed.

My cold side charge pipe doesn't have anything to worry about heatsoaking off of? Good luck getting idk, say an IAT bung or BOV flange onto your charge "cones". Better hope your hood doesn't touch your charge pipes, it could like...smash them or close them off?

You have 2 whole silicone pieces as your charge pipe setup and you STILL spent around $300? My setup was about $186 including the charge pipes, couplers, T-bolt clamps, intercooler, and even the pack of metal cutting blades for my jigsaw to "ghetto" my car.

Ive bought pieces of coupler like that for $30 a piece? I am not knocking your setup, to each his own, so don't get me confused with bashing you I am not, I like how finished your setup looks. I am just saying, don't knock the "ghetto" guys because they saved money and used what they had to come up with the same comparable if not better results then you have. I can make a video showing you how much my cut support DOESN'T flex at all if you like? Its braced on 3 points...

Theres no need to get nasty here, plenty of options, pick your poisons.

No disrespect intended, just explaining 2 different opinions to each other. I hope he understands I mean no harm.

Here is my "ghetto" over the rad. I didn't want to remove a/c or relocate the canister so I went over the top and around. Came out really nice and i did cut but didn't cut all the way through the support. Welded a piece across the cut for added stability. So you can cut and still make it look decent IMO.:2cents:

Yup, heard it was the new "cool" thing to do!

It was a the easiest way to route the way I wanted. I have ummmm, 100 in the whole intercooler setup!

BoostedTrixx 11-14-2010 11:01 PM

creative idea, I like it.

Hey Zach, your inbox is full. I'd like a copy of the mount. PM me and I'll return my email address so you can send it over.
