Last week i dyno my car after putting on 2.5" exhaust.(school dyno ftw = free ) And during my second run i start spitting out oil. It turns out my dipstick shot up about 4 inches and the oil was spraying out of it. (running about 5-5.5 psi)

When i installed my greddy kit. It said to put a plug in the Positive Crankcase Ventilation hose. (on the hot side of the engine). When looking at pictures of peoples engine bays, i have seen that nearly everyone has a breather filter on that hose instead of just plugging it.

Do i need to do anything special before placing a breather filter there? will placing a filter there help to relieve some of the pressure that caused my dipstick to shoot up??

First off, there's no way the Greddy instructions said to plug that port on the cam cover.

Secondly, I know this because there's a similar plug brazed/pressed/cast (I can't remember) into the Greddy's intake elbow...to which you should be connected a vacuum line who's other end connects to said port on cam cover.

#3 - Yes, placing a filter there will cure your dipstick ejaculation problem, however, properly connecting it to the turbo compressor inlet elbow (aft of the AFM/MAF) is better still.

the little plug goes on the plastic "charge" pipe (stock x-over), NOT on the VC.

https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=852 this link shows a scanned copy of instructions. On the part where it talks about "installation of plumbing" on step 4 it says to "Connect the positive crankcase ventilation hose to air inlet aluminum pipe" (the intake elbow),
but then step 5 says "Block off the positive crankcase ventilation hose to air by using 10 end cap". I think i got the two mixed up...i put the plug in the one on the coldside and connected the hose coming off right before the tb. I guess i just got mixed up 'cuz it says to connect the pcv hose, then the next step it says to block the pcv hose.

So right now i have the stock x-over running to the elbow....not the pcv hose. I guess i need to swap the plug and run the pcv hose to the elbow.

Yes, they're saying block the other end of what the original PCV hose was connected to...the port on the plastic crossover pipe right next to the throttlebody.

Yes, you do need to swap the plug and run the PCV hose to the elbow. So you've been running with a vacuum leak at the elbow, to boot! Your car is going to run a lot better after these fixes :-)

block the port on the crossover.

conect the breather to the intake fitler tube.

leave the pcv line to the intake manifold alone.
