2015 NASA Western states championships
Who's racing and in what class?
Pic of car, name and number so we can follow ya. |
Twas too rich to run for TT points this year... So I'm giving it a hard pass this season.
|
I will be there in PTD and TTD
|
|
Looks like some pretty decent size fields in TT and PT. Good luck everyone. :)

Two TTC miatas and a TTB miata. Fun!
|
If anyone is in PTD, look at Vodden's car extremely closely. I ran against him two years ago in PTE, and I had serious doubts about the legality of his car.
|
What is it that I should look for Andrew? What was your concern?

As with any other super fast car you have never seen in your class you crawl all over it and ask to see both classification and dyno sheet, which you are allowed to do. Keep in mind that the driver of that car is the CEO of Thunderhill and has a very close relationship to race organizer. |

Ben Anderson will be racing my RX-7 in PTE again. Will be a tough track for the heavier car with miata tires...but should be fun!
Powell, good luck in D. See ya this weekend. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1438187805 |

Apparently my buddy Matt Cresci blew his motor late in the SM qual race. Sucks, looks like he was holding his own for one dem sim racers in an NA8 that he usually drives to the track.

It was a good battle in E. Much closer than was indicated by the results sheet.
Ben had his hands full on Sunday and really saved our weekend with his driving skill. I made setup change that was the wrong direction and basically added sec onto his lap time. Plus that track was a much harder tire management problem than Road Atlanta. He was having to fight off Chris and Tommy most of the race. |
Well, I had a character building weekend to say the least...
After the first and only practice session we discovered that the alignment moved during shipping the car from Florida and was wayyyy off. 1/2" of toe in, in the front. Chad (RockLobster) helped me get it a little closer and we put it on pole, but only by a tenth. Went out for race one on Friday and the car started cutting out and eventually died a lap or two into the race while leading... We didn't get it figured out until Saturday night. We had no fuel, no spark, and no communication with the ecu. We replaced the coils and cas and hard wired the fuel pump and still no spark. I ended up doing a hard reboot on the ecu, wiping the firmware and reinstalling new firmware and tune. That brought comms and functionality back to the ecu and fuel pump but still had no spark. We put the original coils back on and it fired right back up... We went out for the morning TT session but had to start at the back because of not having a grid spot after not running Saturday. I wasn't sure I was gonna get a clean lap. And I didn't really. I got held up a little but still managed to run a 1:40.8 which was 1.4 seconds faster than second place and 2.8 seconds faster than the track record. Obviously I had to start last for the championship race. it took me a while to get to the front. it was pretty scrappy, a lot of blocking and some very poor driving by lapped traffic but I eventually made it to the lead after some good side by side action through 6 and 9 with Josh Allan for the lead. A couple laps later and I caught the battle for 2/3 in PTC. Those guys are so much faster on the straights that it was a real fight and mental exercise to get through. I couldn't get it done. I could set up the run to get around one of them but then was unable to set up the next guy because I couldn't back up enough to get a run on the other guy because the other guy was still behind me.... Eventually I made a mistake in the corkscrew and put it in the tire wall track left after the crest... Race over. I threw it away from the lead after a lot of hard work and a scrappy fight. Pretty disheartening but we all get it wrong sometimes... |

Nice lap Eric. That lapper and having to use 2nd at T11 probably cost .3s down the front straight. Nutball entry speeds FTW
|
Thanks E
|
That sucks the race ended that way for you, but HOLY shit that was a fast lap! Great work, half-way glad you're in D and not E lol.
