I love Harry's Laptimer App. I have been using it for a while and the data has been very useful going back and forth with my Dad driving the same car with slightly different lines/speeds and adapting the good things we both do in different spots to lower our lap times.

The Google Earth overlay is cool, but the cat's *** is the CSV export. You can export CSV's and load them into Excel and graph the speed vs line or speed vs distance etc and get a better picture of what is going on during a lap.

Also, if you are running a track day or race and have the App running anyone in the pits with the full App running can see your lap time and position LIVE!

I like Harry's. The only thing I think I will change next year will be to add an external GPS. At autox I find it lacking a bit.

I want them to update the Android version beyond "Rookie" feature status before I commit. I'd love to use this with my Nexus or S4

Use TrackMaster if you have Android.

For the price, there is no bigger bang for the buck in lap timing. Get the external sensor though. The 1hz on board GPS is supposed to help locate you on Facebook and find the restaurant, not be accurate at >100mph.

1Hz tracking is hilarious when you look at the GPS raw data + the interpolation. It looks like you're taking a bunch of shortcuts across the track.

Most of the RaceChrono guys use Qstarz BT-Q818XT GPS but the new go to recommended GPS is the Garmin GLO as it has access to more satellites at any one time (something to do with having access to two different satellite constellations) so it has a less likely chance to drop to a 5HZ setting during operation.

I use Harry's with an old iPhone, a RAM mount, and a Dual blue-tooth GPS. Having the timing has been a huge help in going faster in a shorter amount of time.

I am using RaceChrono with a BT-Q818XT on a LG L9. The phone sucks, but the rest of the setup is good. RaceChrono has a lot of good features and its free (including bluetooth data logging so you can grab TPS & RPMS, and also log IATs and coolant temps). The predictive Lap timer (or lack there of) is sector based, so its not all fancy like TrackMaster or an AiM. The guy who writes the RaceChrono code has had the PLT on his todo list for a year or two, so its gotta come soon...

I haven't bought a bluetooth OBDII module yet, but I will sometime before the start of next season.

Trackmaster is sector based, too, for predictive.

Do you know if you can pipe CAN data into your phone?

with OBDII-to-Bluetooth piece you can. they are pretty cheap on amazon/egay.

I was referring to CAN as in CAN Bus for when you go Megasquirt and drop the factory ECU.

OBDII uses canbus as one of its protocols, you might be able to get a megasquirt to mimick obdII...

Honestly, this will require some work I think. I don't really know how CANBUS and OBDII relate.

There are CANBUS to bluetooth readers, but no guarantee they would have an app to read it on the phone or if RaceChrono/Harry's/TrackMaster would support that.

I'm using the XGPS150 at 5hz but the cool kids are moving to the new XGPS160 which cranks out 10hz. I had been using my current iphone but I got a decommissioned iphone4 out of the desk drawer and use that now so I don't need to worry about calls and text messages at the track. Clearing a text message at tracks speeds with driving gloves on doesn't really work...

Bumping this up.

Does anyone know if you can use both Shadow Dash and Harry's lap timmer simultaneously? I'd like to be able to log files frin my diypnp in the background and use the lap timer to view while driving.

Does it just come down to the multitasking capabilities of the android device?
