anyone use a hydraulic wheel-load checker to corner balance their car?

DECO Hydraulic Wheel Load Checker, 0-300 Pounds

this tool is designed for checking wheel loads at the track so it may not be the perfect solution but ive found a few threads by people who claim it is a pretty good alternative to scales. scales are a pain to set up and difficult to use if you don't have a lift and tables, also expensive to pay someone to do this work.

is anyone familiar with this tool?

Nobody with any sense. 20lbs accuracy is not enough to cornerbalance a car. Scales are only difficult to set up because they must be leveled. Checking the cornerweights of a car sitting on an uneven surface is just as bad.

Just as bad for a car that has never been corner weighted?

Pretty much. Cornerweighting is often done in half or one turn increments. That's a change as small as 1.5mm in most cases. If the ground is even 5mm off over the wheelbase of the car, that will skew the numbers badly.
