Autox cooling fans
Another forum talking about autox cooling made me think about a way to either install a lower temp fan switch or a manual switch. What are your ideas?
PS I searched and found 1200 different threads with nothing useful. |
I set a switch up to ground the fan relay in addition to the ECU grounding it to give myself some flexibility. <shrug>

You could always just set it to come on lower in your megasquirt.

He doesn't have Megasquirt. Dunno if Link has that capability?
I use to have mine set up that way many years ago when I had a link. FM probably still has some instructions kicking around there website for setting it up. |
Wow, I didn't know the Link was capable of that. Eventually I see upgrading to MS, but I want to sort the suspension and prove the car is fast first.
Looks I need to study up on stand alones... |
Don't over think it. Like stated above: Simple switch to ground to the current fan relays to force them on. If you forget to hit the button, you wont end up overheating on course. I've seen a couple of those. Usually Prepared cars, last one being an expensive CP motor :noes:
Link has some functions that tend to get overlooked. Like there is an output you can use to trigger the VICS soleniod (with a relay) or shift light. But it definitely is severely limited. Mainly when it comes to upgrading from the stock ignition. |
the easiest way for a manual fan would be installing a switch to ground that connects to the TFA wire in the diagnositics box.
the really easy way is to do nothing at all and not worry about it. |

Looks I need to study up on stand alones... TEMP SWITCH XX: (Z9) On 1.8L cars this screen sets the temperature in *C at which the primary engine cooling fan will energize. On 1.6L cars this screen is not in the menu, but Z9 sends a ground signal out on terminal 1L when the coolant temperature exceeds this setting. Refer to the 1.6L ECU installation manual for details on using this feature. |
Relay to the ignition switch. Can't forget to turn it on. Can't forget to turn it off.
