So I know there are MANY options out there for clutches. From 949's, to ACT, to Centerforce, CompClutches, Gripforce, Flyin' Miata etc.

Lets make this a thread where you post what clutch you have, plus how much torque your car makes (at X RPM) and how the clutch is holding up on the track.

I purchased an 1.8L FM Stage 2 pressure plate from a member here, however it didn't come with a disk. I need to pick a disk for it, that will hold over 250ft lbs. Lets hear it guys.

I have Phil's beat to **** F1 stage 3 clutch and pressure plate. I was at 15psi on a china GT2870-same turbo in which he made 250whp (mustang). It held like a champ until my **** blew up.

To support this: I've heard great things about the F1 Stage 3. But terrible, TERRIBLE things about the stage 1 and 2 - stay away from those.

Since this is the Race Prep section I assume this is for a track car? If yes, then get a 6-puck disc. ACT or Clutchnet or whatever.

custom twin plate with organic disks at 250ish whp and would hold more.

regular FM level 1 clutch holds same setup fine.

best dyno numbers were:
226 ft lbs @ 4500
257 rwhp @ 7100

peak torque with VVT probably closer to 235 @ 4200. give or take.

the twins would hold up fine at the track. dont know about the FM level 1.

You would be correct. I'll look into it, thanks. It's a dual purpose car, but I'm building it as if it was solely a track car and just dealing with it the way it is on the street when I do drive it.

I’m using a 1.6l ACT Extreme 6 puck. On a 7 lb 1.6l Fidanza flywheel. It has held 320 ft-lbs and 360 hp for more than a year now. Incredibly easy to launch for such a light weight setup that holds that much torque.

I wanted a twin before Emilio came up with one for sale but what I have now is working so good I can’t justify it yet.

Who makes the FM clutch? Exedy? I'm thinking I should just pick up a Exedy replacement and put the extra money towards a flywheel. What are the thoughts on the F1 flywheel? Out of the box balancing is not an issue since that can be done, but what about the quality of the material used? I see 949 sells them, so they have to be good?

I believe it's Competition Clutch.

is it a yellow PP? then it's an ACT Extreme PP. So just get an ACT 6-puck and slap it back in.

The twin disc is phenomenal if you have the $$ but not a DD setup at all.

I have a spec S3 which is a metal clutch, steel plate, and stock flywheel and I have zero complaints. I'll probably use the same clutch when the time comes unless I have gobs of cash and buy the 949 twin disc. I've driven a single disk 949 clutch and it's like driving rape. I plan to not drive that car again because when I do, that clutch calls my name.

i agree. had I not known y8s had a twin disc I would have assumed stock and/or a light duty street disc.

He was DDing his twin clutch for years now. the issue was the plates getting warped from repeated heat cycling.
