Thanks for the comments guys!

The soft tissue padding isn't SFI rated at this point, but I recall seeing somewhere that SFI is looking into certifying a soft tissue spec padding.

The product is made from the same material the SFI rated helmet padding is made, only with lower density -

I'd definitely recommend it for the door bars.

I don't know that any sanctioning bodies require the padding to be SFI rated, FYI.

Wow! Looks great.

What diameter tubing is that?

Thanks.

All the tubing is 1.5". There's more than one thickness of tubing used to make an overall lightweight setup, and it all meets NASA specs.

Some more pics that Moti took, showing how the door bars stretch to the firewall and how the rear legs fit through the rear shelf:

Would you be able to post a couple more close ups of what he did to modify your driver floor pan? Are the stock seat bosses still there? Thanks.

This angle might help show it.
The rear seat mounts were cut out.
Trans tunnel was cut to allow centering of the seat.

It turned out front seat mounts/floorpan brace did not need to be removed - because of my desired recline angle and the design of this particular seat - the underside curves upwards at the front - we found that the front of the seat would clear that brace even with the rear of the seat touching the floor.

As it sits now, you can barely squeeze a finger between the bottom of the back of the seat and the floorpan.

If and when you install a halo and down bars, am I to asume that the down bars would connect to where the door bars attach to the fire wall?

You have me thinking that I would like to do a half cage for now.

ThePass 10-21-2011 02:13 PM

The down bars connect to the forward that attaches to the rocker panel, near the front of the door opening. That post there is the same one as used for all of their cages, and is placed in the same spot.
