as stated in title 99 miata feels like I'm losing fuel on hard left hand corners. Was running ms2e on e85 everything was fine, ran great. One day started to lose power for 2-3 seconds on only left turns, and only hard lefts. Went back to stock ecu and pump gas and still same issue occurred. Swapped stock fuel pump for dw 190, and still same issue. I'm leaning towards fuel bc all gauges remain working when car loses power. I changed fuel filter recently to no avail. I'm at a loss here guys and any input would be greatly appreciated.

it all started with stock what I believe was completely original fuel pump and sock 70k miles. When I ordered dw pump came with a new sock and I used it. Side note original sock looked perfect when taken out. And yes proper orientation, I will double check tonight.

 

Is your battery loose?

 

Its fuel starve. Have you tried running a full tank to see if it stops?

 

Do you still have the stock sock? It's much better than the DW sock. When I pulled my OEM fuel pump out to change it, the sock dripped for a long time, like over a minute of dispensing the fuel that was wicked inside of it. When doing a similar test with the DW sock, it doesn't really wick the fuel up like the stock sock does, then dispenses quickly if the fuel is removed from the sock.

same thing occurs with a topped off tank. I used to run this car at 1/8 tank no problems

 

no I threw out stock sock, wrong move apparently. Only thing is this happened with the stock sock as well. It could be a combination of stock fuel pump was going bad, and now the dw with crappy sock is causing same symptoms? I doubt it but maybe

 

Please be plain. When run with the tank full, does the starvation still occur?

 

my car does the same thing. literally identical symptoms.

I have a new FP assembly to drop in the car to see if that fixes things. When my tank is full or at least above 1/2 tank, I don't have issues. It's something related to the pickup I'm sure, just never opened things up yet.

 

let me know how that goes. I had a full tank Sunday at njmp every time I hit turn 7 a hard left, car cuts out for 2-3 seconds. But when I'm stuck in traffic behind slow drivers and I take the turn easier it's fine. So frustratingly

If it does it with a full tank, it's not the fuel pickup. The issue I and a few others have seen is on track (not autox), after long sweepers, with < 1/2 tank, and generally with big turbo cars.

This is something different, and it doesn't sound like fuel to me. If you want to rule that out comprehensively, you need a fuel pressure sender and a data logging device.

What happens to the dash lights/gauges - do they stay on, or does everything go black?
