cool suit cooler tie down

a friend of mine gave me his cool suit cooler and I want to install it using nylon webbing and several footman loops. what do most people use? any suggestions on location? passenger side foot well is the obvious choice but I'm leaning towards a trunk install just in case I decide to add a passenger seat at some point. any suggestions?

What a friend! I've been trying to sell my brand new FAST setup for a long ass time.

It comes with a bracket that holds the bottom of the cooler, there is a strap that goes over as well.

You really want the proper bracket or something similar to it. You will have it in and out of the car on a pretty regular basis to drain/fill it. It's not hard to make your own but you want something that has four sides and a flat bottom.

The strap that it comes with, OTOH, is junk. Replace it with this:

how do you suggest I attach the straps to the car? is a footmans loop not the correct solution? I have several basic ratchet straps that should work fine but im more concerned with the mounting bracket and location

Im thinking something like this.

I helped a friend dissemble his deceased race car. He decided to not rebuild and focus on other things. he was extremely successful and achieved his goals. time to move on

You don't attach them to the car. The bracket bolts into the floor, then the strap goes through the bracket. That's why you need an endless ratchet strap and the proper mounting bracket (or something of the same design).

The strap goes through the slots in the bracket:

Mine's on the floor of my car (not a miata but same idea). I just used a couple of pieces of aluminum angle, some eye hooks (like what comes with racing belts), and a couple of properly sized rubber bungee cords. Never had a problem. Not a bad idea to put racer tape around the lid joints to make sure no water gets out. Larger chunks of ice last a lot longer. I recommend making your own ice blocks with tupperware.

mm good tips, thanks. do you run the variable controller or a toggle switch?
