It's just the nature of the beast, the speed of the blower is linear to the engine RPM as it draws its power from a belt and so boost will rise at the same rate by definition.
Creampuff hits 14 psi of boost by the time the party is at full song. |
Stronk!

Indeed!
I've been asked about the advantages of my setup vs. OTS kit on another forum, might as well copy paste it here too - 1. All the weight is set down low, not just the blower, everything else too. 2. The side mount IC allows an unobstructed air path to the radiator which promotes better cooling, a huge plus in a track car. 3. The SMIC also sets the weight in the lighter corner, again, for better weight dist. 4. The SMIC allows shorter charge piping length, ~42" from the Rotrex outlet to the IC core and just over a foot from the IC outlet to the TB. Not only that boost has less pipe to charge before it goes into the motor, it's also lighter. This is _a good thing_.

What's with the 5.4 final drive ratio? Are you really running those gears?

Still running the stock BP4W motor?
|
Yep.
|
|
Looked through your Rotrex thread as well, which unit are you running? C30-84?
|
C30-74
|
Any reason why you went with the 74 over the 84? Apologies if this has been discussed already.
|
Of the 74, 84 and 94 the 84 seems to be the "stuck in the middle" model that doesn't offer a significant advantage over the 74 but sacrifices reliability.
The 94 requires a built motor to fully take advantage of, I'm running a stocker. The end result shows that the 74 is more than capable. |

I sure hope so, I've never driven a Rotrex'd car!
SLB is going to be a setup struggle, there's so much different in the car that at best it's a shot in the dark and I hope my thought process is sort of on the right track. |
Moti the best way to describe it is uneventful. It just feels like a bigger NA motor. The biggest handicap the Rotrex has is low end torque. When you're on the track that's a non issue since you'll never be below 5k.
Glad to see you taking the leap. I have been quite happy with my setup. |
It's not the Rotrex I'm talking about, I'm sure I'll get used to that pretty quick.
The suspension setup with all the new aero / body is going to be the challenge, I made a couple of small changes from the usual stuff... ;) Pics coming in a few hours. |

I'll do a full write up about the event later today, but for now, here is Creampuff as of Wednesday night. |
So I guess you'll be trying to keep it on the track then eh?
That is a thing of beauty! |
Also, if someone is blocking you on track, you can take out a rear tire at will. Shades of the chariot scene from Ben Hur.
