Default 6UL purchase - need help.

Hi Guys

I "know" it's not ideal but I have 1 x 1/2 used set and 1 x new set of Dunlop Direzza semi slicks for this seasons racing setup on 7" rims.

I am about to buy a set of 6UL's from 949 and really want 9" (as that is what you FAST guys say is the bees knees).

Problem is I can't afford to restock with tyres until I have used these 205x50x15 sets up.

Can I squeeze the 205 on to the 9" rim and then just start using the 225 or is this a no go....in which case I will just get the 8".

The 205 tyres are MASSIVELY cheaper compared to the 225 down here, nearly 1.5 x again the cost...).

So another question is, is the performance from 8" and 205 to 9"with 225 significant (1 sec + is significant to me...at this point) i.e enough to justify the ongoing running cost? (I want to "feature" in this class)

I am a little nervous on fitment but I have read and (briefly) emailed Emilio that they should fit a 1990 with roll guards and coilovers (Koni race).

Suggestions, experience and thoughts welcomed.

I just want to commit and move on now!

Yes the 9's will be faster. (many including sav and emilio confirmed with track times)
Yes the 205's will fit the 9 just fine. (done this myself)

No idea about NA1 fitment.

Hope that helps.

If I recall correctly, 225 on a 9 is faster than 205 on a 9, and 205 is faster on a 9 than 205 on an 8. I'm running 225 on a 9 right now and I love it. Previously had 205 on an 8. The 9s just look right too, especially with 275.

Thanks Hairpin, if you remember correctly...that is great news!

I will go for 225 when these are used but having $2k invested in tyres already, means utilising what I have in the meantime. So long as they fit under the guards okay, I think the 9's are the right way for me to go.

Soon see
