do carbotechs need to be bedded in?
Long story, but I've just picked up the racecar from the shop (thank you AR racing), the car is tuned and ready except I need to change out the brakes. The rear sliders are siezed, which will put me into raceday morning before I can get new calipers and swap out pads. My qualifying is first amd no time to bed brakes. If I remember right, was it carbotech's that didn't need to be bedded-in? Ive got a set of 12/8's. I hope to throw on new calipers/rotors and go straight to qualifying on Saturday morning.

Carbotechs really really need to be bedded.

Cobalts don't require bedding. If I recall correctly, we have a set of sport rears on the shelf, should of asked while you were here!!
|
Definitely should be bedded, even if the box is stamped "pre-bedded." You might be ok to go straight out for qualifying if they are pre-bedded pads, but someone with direct experience needs to confirm that. All I know for sure is that I've tried bedding non-pre-bedded carbotechs on track before, and the results were not good.

Suck. Thx for the info. Thx for the great service Curly. You are very thorough and professional. Can't wait to try out the car with the new ecu/tune!

I almost crashed with STOCK replacement carbotechs because I didn't bed them properly. I had extremely unsafe stopping distances, and then a few days of driving went by, and miraculously i had stopping power.

I've switched to PFCs. No bedding, smoother braking, less expensive even. FWIW.

Cobalts. Everyone should try cobalts.
Craig, we do indeed have xr3 sport front and xr4 sport rears on the shelf. |
