DTC60 pads on used HP+ rotors

I know I saw this discussed years ago when the DTC60 pads became popular, but cannot find the answer in my searches. Can I slap on DTC60 pads on my street rotors that are running HP+ (front) and HPS (rear) without resurfacing or replacing the rotors? From what I can remember it would be acceptable to use the DTC60's on my street rotors since it will wear off any existing transfer layers and it should be compatible with any of the other HAWK pads.

I know the Carbotechs I used to run HAD to have clean rotors to begin with or at least the same pad material bedded on the rotor or you would end up with issues.

I have a track day coming up and was not planning on buying new rotors since I am planning a break upgrade to larger rotors in the near future.

yes that is fine. just don't mix manufacture's transfer layers.

Don't worry, bought TSE 11.75 BBK that we're run on HP+, replaced with XP12 and now I got some DTC-60 locally that I run since 4 events and everything is fine all on the same rotor. Still have those spare friction rings but damn they don't die nor crack or wave since 3 years+ impressive for cheap rotors!

Great! That's what I seem to remember from previous discussions.

What about when I swap back to street HP+ pads after running DTC-60 track pads?

Should be fine. I swapped out the front pads only between HP+ and DTC-60s with no real hassle outside of trying to leverage to push in the pistons on the caliper.

It might be worth it to look into getting two sets of rotors if you're planning on going the dual (or triple) duty route with your car.

I'm going with larger wheels and brakes for the next track day and will be running separate dedicated track rotors .

It worked fine. I swapped in DTC-60s front and rear on rotors that were using HP+ on the fronts and HPS in the rear. I swapped back to my street pads this past weekend and have been driving all week. No issues so far. I was concerned that the HP+ might start squealing, but they are working just fine.

Only problem is that I wish I had the DTC-60 stopping power on the street!

Thanks for providing a followup, this makes it more accessible for others in the same boat when searching.

Are you using a stock master cylinder and an adjustable bias valve, or did you just slap the pads on with the stock hydraulics without issue?

Stock master and rear calipers. Willwood front calipers. I still have to install my proportioning valve. The factory bias valve was right at the limit with the DTC60s, it was right at the limit of locking the rears up.

I also have a 01 master and booster to try out.
