Fuel Pressure
What fuel pressure are you guys running? Please list your setup with pressure. (Injectors**, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel rail, turbo, boost, power ect.)
I have an idea of what I want to run but just curious to see what's common or normal. Updated ;-) Thanks Joe |
I didn't see you mention the most important variable, which is injector size.
Replacing the fuel pump and filter is good preventative maintenance on a 15-20 year old car, but aside from that, you shouldn't need to upgrade anything else at reasonable power levels. On my last car (1.6) I was using stock lines, rail, FPR, etc, with a TD04H-15G turbo at 14 PSI making 210 WHP. This was with a set of 440cc-rated injectors, and I had a fair bit of headroom left- duty cycle never went much above 70%. |
FYI I am going to be running a built 1.9, with ID 1000's and a bosch 044 shooting for 400-450 on race gas. Thinking of running around 50 psi but not sure if that's really over kill.
Edit: Other notable items: stock fuel lines, M-tuned fuel rail |
Walbro 190hp & DW800cc. With 80psi fuel pressure DC% is around 75%. E85 and around 300whp
Stock NB return style fuel system with m-tuned dual feed fuel rail |

Dayum, not worried about that fuel pump at that pressure?

I am. DW300 pump is going in next. Also 800cc isnt enought, maybe I get ID1000 or 1200cc next
I think ID's like to run a bit higher then stock fuel pressure. Looking around on their site it seems at about 70psi that the ID1000's should top out at about 1100cc. One day when I have time to convince Tim to build me a dual feed fuel rail I will switch over to an AFPR and raise my pressure up from the stock levels. |
With IDs and an aftermarket FPR, I would run ~50psi on gas and ~70psi on E85.

Is there a reason you don't run higher with gas? Is it because the extra head room is not needed?

I idle at 80psi. With ID1000. No problemo.
