Default NASA TT operation save non oe shape hardtop

If you run one or are thinking of running a non oe shape please quote Emilio's post below in the NASA TT thread linked and give an amen.

I can not find any sound and unassailable logic in favor of banning non OEM shapes unless NASA also bans non OEM shape fender, side sills, noses, windshield frames.

It is clear that an aerodynamic advantage could be realized with a non OEM shape so it should be treated the same as a nose or fender shape change.

Proposal

G
13) Replace or modify OEM Hardtop shape or features with non-fastback. OEM hard top shape herein defined as within 1/2" of external OEM dimension. (note: Additional points must be assessed for any spoiler, vertical fins or vortex inducers integrated/attached into hardtop, see G.3),G8),G.10) +1

14) Add fastback hardtop that covers any portion of OEM trunk opening. (note: Additional points must be assessed for any spoiler, vertical fins or vortex inducers integrated/attached into fastback, see G.3),G8),G.10) +3

If they could get to SoCal they'd run S2k Challenge, MotoIQ TT, or even RLTA rather than run with NASATT. That's the beauty of the free market of course.

I read section G of the Time Trial Classification form and it looks to me like a 2-3 point assessment for the fancy-top makes sense. I've only been through this stuff for about 6-months so I'm naive and ignorant.
These guys need a little free market action. If we had a series like Speed Ventures', NASA would consider getting their act together to keep their customers. I know I'd be the first to unload from NASA and run with SV if they were in Texas to get away from the stickers and the shitty classing that somehow puts a $60,000, 190whp, 1900lb car with the same shock and tire mods, with factory aero, in the same class as my Miata.

problem is we do have a "speed ventures" here. it's called "the drivers edge". and they are 10x worse than nasa when it comes to opressive dictatorship. also speed vetures is an hpde/tt like pca, tde, etc.. they don't have a national racing series. nasa = scca. speed ventures = tde. but i know what you mean. believe me, if we had an open minded hpde org. TxMC would be running it. we'll see. hopefully it's getting to that point. maybe next year we can run exclusively with one of the new hpde/tt orgs. like rps @ tws, msr-h and c, and h2r. lmnop, qrstuv....lol

btw, apparently there a 3 things that get people in an uproar at the mere mention. ****'s, slavery, pit bulls. don't mention any one of them in any thread......ever.

Misty, who used to run the PDS at TWS, has spun off her own DE school (http://www.rpmschool.net/). First event is this weekend at H2R and get this...as part of the registration you can join the time trial on sunday!

It may be something to look into for future TXMC events. I can talk to Misty this weekend if yall are interested. unfortunately I wont have my miata ready for a while, but I'd like to help any way i can.

Definitely! Please just let her know nothing would be any different for us. We would follow all rules relevant to any hpde/tt. We just compare our lap times to each others within classes for bragging rights, driver/vehicle improvement, etc...
I think it would help TxMC and her new venture if we could advertise a partnership Ala speed ventures/MC. May finally be able to get vendor contingencies or support if something like this could happen. Our first solo event (with full cooperation from track management ) will be this June @ H2R. They will be having a DE but we will have our own run groups! Be nice if you could make that event.

I have had a lot of interaction with Misty and she is easy to get a long with. I hope this goes well for her and I plan to attend all the events of hers I can.

haha, i'll see what she has to say. I think she will have no problem with it.

In other news, http://texasworldspeedway.com/about-.../57-txroc.html

TWS PDS is now incorporating a W2W run group in their school as well as a TT in the advanced group. sounds like things are a changin.

I saw this today, hopefully its affordable. I'd like to see the "Hallett Model" applied here.

I will be out at cal speedway this weekend with NASA. I will have a chat with Ryan flairty (I think that's how you spell it). Let me know what you have to say about what you want. Also it would help if you went on the NASA forum and posted there. I would like to see NASA pick up something other than sm.

Have a great day,
Jared

This just in:
There are "issues" with my NASA TT license. How many days must I run DE4/TT to get a god damn TT license? I can only assume my one spin at MSR-H, where I never left the track, avoided contact by looking behind me while sideways, then leaving the track to avoid the train raised an eyebrow. Hopefully it's not the ****-much ride along instructor from ECR.

Don't know how it is down there, but I was in HPDE4 for one day then was forced by Greg to be in TT. You should only have to be approved by the TT director in your area to get your license.

Have a geat day,
Jared

I was referring something similar to MC but for NASA. I don't run SV and most likely won't unless its an autox.

Have a great day,
Jared
