From amazon it sounds like as long as you are expecting a cheap piece of crap its a good buy. But if you were expecting almost as good as a HD1 go pro, lollololololololol.

I was thinking about a GoPro, but I'm not anymore.

GoPro doesn’t like their Hero 3 compared to Sony’s AS15?

Also worth reading is GoPro's PR response on Reddit: kris33 comments on GoPro doesn`t like you to use their name. DMCA abuse.

Defenetly GoPro Black.

Here is my last video on track (sorry not a Miata) that I recorded in 720p at 120fps (no ''jello'' effects), down sized to 30fps for you tube use, attached to my roll bar in narrow setting:

Le Circuit Mont-Trembant - YouTube

Nice vid Charles! You will get some nice info on here, even though you don't have the right car....hehe (Ben, qui un jour va aller plus vite que toi dans sa miata rouge!)
Welcome to the forum!

Great vid! That track looks like a ton of fun!

Went with a gopro silver edition, same track as charles, recon session as I was my first time there, STILL PLAYING with cineform, this is draft version from the software, enjoy a lap of Tremblant a track that can bite as you'll see at the end.

GoPro is the sportster's default.

Pro's
--BEST color
--BEST picture
--robust
--waterproof
--the basic features that you'll use are all there
--just like Miata, they're everywhere and people in the pits will generally have spare parts for the GoPro, knowledge how it best works, etceteras

note: The Hero Black also includes a Bluetooth module that GoPro hasn't even turned on yet--this is supposed to be a secret, but it's all over the forums by guys who have cracked theirs opened to see the guts.

Con's
--Not that user-friendly, unless you buy all the remote control gizmos
--battery and memory don't always match usage
--videos taken in moving vehicles can sometimes have a waving, nauseating quality to them
--the suction cups can sometimes suck, but not in a good way. It pays to add a safety lanyard to all GoPros...at least the ones you care about.

While the GoPro is the recognized leader in action video, I predict that dash-mounted cell phones will top them in market share usage within two years. So if you have an old Apple or Motorola sitting around, consider strapping that to your dash as well...what can you lose?

Laur3ns 07-27-2013 04:57 PM

I've had numerous camera's, they all died, failed or plain sucked.
Now, I'm running a GoPro Hero3 Black Edition + external stereo mic:

Scrappy Jack 07-28-2013 08:03 AM

Spooky - What external mic and windscreen(s) did you get?

Laur3ns 07-28-2013 11:30 AM

Olympus ME-51S
https://www.google.nl/search?q=olymp...exBcu9PczKgOAD

And some cheap windscreens I could find that would fit.
They are not optimal yet with open windows and I may need to find more fluffy ones.
