Go race.

Holy shit i need this in my life. Briefly considered (kindof still am) selling every non-DD car i have and picking this shit up.
Multimatic Nissan Sentra SE-R Race Team For Sale | Autometrics Motorsports https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375903298 |
I wonder if that would part out some of those springs and wheels. Nice find tho.
|
2 cars and a dickload of spares for 15k seems like a steal, even for a couple of datsuns.
|
Realistically, the wheels alone are worth about $15k.
I DID find it interesting that these cars are SR20 powered in lieu of the QR25s they were originally equipped with. |

Not that unusual - it's likely the class they raced in was limited to 2 liters or the weight was based on displacement.

Proof again that autocrossers will do the dumbest shit on the face of the planet in the face of a burning need to satisfy a completely arbitrary set of rules more complicated than The Constitution.
I'm not sure that basing weight on displacement alone (or with other adjustment factors) is the best way to make rules for a class, but that's not really the point. |

I'm talking about road racing. It's more proof that when building a race car, you use the rules to your advantage if you're concerned with winning.

Honestly, the 2002 vintage QR25 wouldn't have been a good choice anyways, and it was likely early enough in the model run that they hadn't figured out why the motors kept ingesting bolts. SR20 seems like a logical choice for the time period assuming you could buy them well before the Race Wars rush. (I make fun of autocrossing because i autocross.) |

The fastest STL miata (at least last year, and should be this year) was Jim Drago. I'm pretty sure his is an NB with some sort of 1.8. Reportedly the car makes 185whp, which I seriously doubt a 1.6 could do. Actually, I doubt a 1.8 could do it within the constraints of the rules (11.0:1 max compression, 0.450" max lift, no porting of the head allowed, etc.) but maybe. STL should be a pretty awesome race at the Runoffs this year. Currently there are 28 cars registered (myself included). Unfortunately my STL car hasn't really been built yet...and the runoffs is in like six weeks.....and I have to go to three Grand AM races in between.... Sorry, back to the topic at hand. It seems like a good deal but I have a few concerns. 1st: That chassis was never really any good. I know there's a handful of people that raced them with mixed results, but it's just not a great chassis to race. Also the QR engine was mostly junk, hence the SR's in these motors. 2nd: There isn't really any where to race these cars. Sure they could race in STL, but I can think of other FWD 2.0L powered cars that would be much, much better. You could race them in NASA PT but again, I think a person would have trouble getting them competitive. Really, these cars are a couple of red-headed stepcars, no one wants to put the time into running them and that's why they are basically free. 3rd: I can only guess at how much, but it would definitely take a decent amount of time and a bit of money to get these cars back into racing shape. Who knows how long they've sat for, but it sounds like 10 years. A lot of weird sh*t happens in ten years. Anyway, $200,000 of pro race cars for $15,000 seems like a really good deal but who knows... |
The Sentras came with SR20's i thought?
The SE-r ones anyway... |

The SE-r ones anyway... And you can get a B15 with an SR20 from factory, but that was the old SE or whatever it was. All B15 SE-Rs had the QR25. |

I agree that they're not relevant in anything today. But.... two cars and a dickload of spares for $15k. Who gives a shit what you do with them? HPDE madness? Hillclimb/time trials? That's all i was considering them for. Very cheap way to get into some pretty well-prepped cars to just beat the everliving piss out of. Use 'em up, part 'em out, get probably all of your money back + more. These represent a VERY cheap way to get some seat time in some serious cars. |
This I just found me a chump car
